cocopop3011 Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Do you set a gambling budget every week or month? Please answer the poll above and let us know if you do or not Quote
Blackjax Posted July 7 Posted July 7 I used to have a gambling budget of €200 per contest where the first prize was above €200. This would be anywhere between €400-€600 per month. This was before the new payout structure came into play. cocopop3011 1 Quote
loceff13 Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Yep, the days of loss chasing etc are long behind me. These days I tend to stick to small deposits with bonus offers and lowrolling as a 20c 1000x brings me enough enjoyment. If the NZ gambling law coming into force in ~December this year is effective with casinos blocking NZ players I might play substantially less as playing at VPN friendly casinos does not seem fun/safe to me. Icy Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Usually! I let the minimum deposit and the small bets do the work in the hopes of landing a super rare max win, should they exist outside bonus buys, so I can feel like a Loceff13 that impresses and puts the hots on a Cocopop3011 without being fully interviewed by a reporter Afi4wins. kuff 1 Quote
lucks_maximus Posted July 8 Posted July 8 My "gambling budget" for slots is set by me only taking fat deposit bonuses and is more-or-less self-sustaining, as the money won from either gambling or won on forum contests let's me avoid having to make further deposits from the bank (though ONLY because I don't play much nowadays). Sports betting is beyond self-sustaining and has been for a while. I almost never play slots on the sportsbook that has most of my gambling bankroll like I used to since they booted me from their main slots promotion in an douchey way. Icy 1 Quote
formerPokerpro Posted July 8 Posted July 8 i am very happy that its not necessary for me either similar to @lucks_maximus all my gambling is funded by itself nowadays. enough money on skrill to take some nice bonuses and to make the occasinoal raw depo on stars. i never chase losses since thats the way to lose everything and i mostly lowroll slots. discipline is the most important skill when u want to be sucessfull at gambling! lucks_maximus and Icy 1 1 Quote
cristalbenaim Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Yes, always. I don’t really see it as a “budget” anymore, more like a hard stop before I even start. If I deposit, I already assume that money is gone, and if I’m not okay with losing it, I shouldn’t be playing that day Quote
Maddison Dwyer Posted yesterday at 11:07 AM Posted yesterday at 11:07 AM For me, “budget” is almost too soft a word. It sounds flexible, and flexible is where gambling gets messy. The healthier version is more like: this is the amount I’m fine treating as gone before I start. If that sentence feels uncomfortable, the number is too high. Not very glamorous, but it saves a lot of later mental gymnastics. loceff13 1 Quote

Good point, what $$ that are on my skrill/crypto is what I'm willing to lose too. How is gambling in australia now, last I checked it was pretty grim(even talking about enforced breaks at poker tables at casinos etc). Quote
marius1978 Posted yesterday at 04:47 PM Posted yesterday at 04:47 PM I don't have a set budget, I just go through my monthly checklist: - Is the rent paid? - Is the electricity paid? - Are there food and beer in the fridge? - Do I have cigarettes? - Did I buy fresh flowers for the wife? If yes on all 5, it's my go ahead kuff 1 Quote
JulieV Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Yes, I think setting a gambling budget is one of the most important things to do, especially because it’s easy to get carried away when you’re having a good or bad session. I usually decide beforehand how much I’m comfortable spending and treat it as entertainment money, not as a way to make income. Once that limit is reached, I stop instead of trying to chase losses or recover a bad run. I also think it’s useful to set smaller limits for each session rather than only having a monthly budget. It makes it easier to stay in control and avoid making emotional decisions. For me, the biggest mistake is changing your limits depending on your results. Increasing your budget because you won, or depositing more because you lost, can quickly turn a fun activity into something stressful. Having a budget doesn’t make gambling less enjoyable. In my opinion, it actually makes the experience better because you can focus on the games without worrying about losing more than you planned. Quote
dawinczo1999 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I set my gambling budget using the winnings from previous months. If that budget runs out, I try to win more money using the no-deposit bonuses offered by casinos. I try to turn that into new capital that will allow me to continue playing for big wins. I came up with this system myself, and so far it’s worked well—it lets me stay calm without straining my finances—but its downside is the amount of time I have to devote to it. Quote
