The few times I've seen it requested it was seemingly about ban evasion/identify theft suspicions/sportsbetting using someone elses ID to book more action etc. Like if someone steals their family members/friends creditcard and ID to evade a ban it's impossible for them to hop on camera and hold an ID that looks different to them and pull it off. If you are fronting for a sportbettor they might ask for an on camera chat and would ask them questions about the action they took and why, what they know about the sport and how commonly they make those bets etc to get an idea if they are legit or a front for another party. Having someone stand outside their stated address to ensure they are not using a VPN to break TOS etc. I get it's annoying and intrusive, best we can do is vote with your feet and our wallets and play elsewhere.
