Most players remember the big hits, near misses and sessions where the slot almost paid. What gets forgotten is how many deposits, stake changes and dead spins it took to get there.
Put the full history into one timeline and it looks completely different. Deposit, chase, change the bet, wait for the feature, get a weak bonus and try to win it back. Then the same loop starts again.
After putting enough money into one slot it is easy to believe it should pay soon. It does not owe anything though. The real question is how much money, time and health were burned while chasing the next hit.
