What’s the biggest gambling loss you’ve ever had, and what mistake led to it?

I remember my loss, and actually it was very small compared to others (around 200 USD in one bet, compared to my initial budget it was a big amount that time). This helped me learn what can happen when I decide too quickly. The problem is, even years later, I still struggle sometimes because of emotional betting and even greed (but I control myself better now). What’s your biggest loss in gambling, and what caused it?

I once won £5,000 and blew it all chasing my losses on a multiplayer game.

I have lost $1000 in winnings on Snatch casino trying to chase that crazy Crazy Time wheel where I was chasing a 50x top slot on any of the 7 segments.

Having a big balance like that would dare me to reach for something more.

Greed once took me for a crashing ride.........my balance demise at the moment, that kept doubling my $13.20 bets into ones that would shock the most comfortable of players.

I became a..........(In a guilty expression)....................JohnnyGotTheBone!

What would be my penance for this sin sister Cocopop3011?

@Icy There are times when everyone wants to be or play like @Johnnygotthebone when overwhelmed.

Luckily I don't and never intend to either. 

But then again, I NEVER get any huge winning amount either!!! 

However, my biggest loss and mistake happened at Genting Casino (land-based casino in Malaysia) on a day when Lady Luck was nowhere near me and the devil took over my conscience instead - I lost RM4000 on that one day itself (over 25 years ago), and I have never made that same mistake ever again so far. A painful lesson learnt!

iirc I did some degen spins on cherry pop at $5+ per spin and accidentally gambled the bonus($375 value) instead of collecting,  losing it. I've misclicked in poker MTTs which have been costly mistakes at final tables too.

I won €1600 a few months ago. The maximum daily withdrawal was €400, so I withdrew €400 and had €1200 left. Luckily, I gambled it all away and lost it all. If the casino had allowed withdrawals of the entire balance, I wouldn't have lost anything.

Not a fun feeling, I have done that in the past too. These days I tend to take some time to think and plan what I will buy with that money once its processed/cashed out which really helps me with any cravings to cancel/keep playing. ie a few hundred might not seem like much when it's just a number on the screen but if I had $500+ I think of it like next week I will put $100+ towards a hellofresh box etc or more premium grocery options or a meal out/event etc, ~$100 towards future gambling fun(if I want, competition wins sometimes cover this part), the rest to short or long term savings. I always have a short term financial goal setup for a hobby I enjoy and want to spend money on ie right now it's $3500 for 2 raised garden beds and a brand new glasshouse.

 

I caught myself 2 days ago being lazy with a casino wager I was near completing because I should have safely wagered low bets on ~96% RTP titles to lock in a healthy win, instead I got frustrated and upped my bets to speed up wagering so it didn't take another 30k+ spins. Could have cost me a few hundred if I continued. Collected myself and reduced bet size/lower volatility slot and beat the wager thankfully.

I hope you aren't talking about felice bet. But if you are then forget about the money. They don't process cashouts. If I ever sign up there in the future it will only be for a contest.

I got paid 291euro from them almost 3 hours ago, about 30 hours after doing verification documents and requesting cashout. Not sure why others have had issues but all my bets were below 3RM etc and no bonus buys.

Wow. That's great news. I was told to stay away from them as they don't "pay".  That's why I stayed away from them for so long. What deposit method did you use?

At Winz casino I played I was with 1000 € in then came to 2000 € and started playing at 10 € stake lost everything crazy head. The most I can win is stake up to 1 € anything more is all lose, I deposit 60 € stake at 2 € you get 400 € you try at 4 € you lose all 400 € and I also invest 400 € and a half I am already regularly in the lose. The rule for me should be a maximum of 1 € stake let's learn for me! Is anyone in profit with slots?

A deposit bonus was capped at 5x your deposit? That's low! Did you see this before you deposited?

set yourself a daily stop loss limit and stick to it, of course it's easier said than that but has to be worth it.

some casinos also have caps on how much you can win from free spins they give you, sometimes as low as 50 eur... some put a cap on it and require wagering on those winnings too.
