I’ve been reading about RTP a lot, and honestly I’m still unsure how much it affects real gameplay.
Some people say it matters in the long run, but others say they’ve had better luck with lower-RTP games.

What’s your experience?
Do you actively look for higher RTP, or do you just play whatever feels fun?

To me personally, RTPs do not matter that much at all, simply because my best games since over the last 20 years happen to have only 94% and 95% RTPs right from day 1 !!!

RTPs do not tell the true story when you start playing any game. That's because your gameplay actually depends on where in the game cycle you happen to land when you start playing! If you're lucky, you'd land in a good cycle, but most times you'd only land in an average or poor cycle of the game.

For you? No, RTP means almost nothing short-term because of variance. But for the operator, it’s everything. I read a great article, I'll share it with you  https://thegamblingjournal.com/insights/business-models-economics/how-do-online-casinos-make-money/ about how casinos structure their profits, and it clearly shows that RTP is just a tool to keep the math predictable for the business. They design the system to make money steadily over millions of spins, while we are just gambling on a tiny fraction of that timeline

The only way they will ever keep things legitimate without being able to cheat the figures is if everyone had to go through a VPN gate so the information could be analyzed to determine an accurate RTP outside of a casino's control or a software companies control there has to be third party reporting , VPN gateways , and then of course you'll need "honest" people handling the process .

These RTPs are based off millions or billions of spins, I don't sweat the different between 96% and 94%. Much more important than the RTP is that you're playing with some sort of bonus, whether it's deposit bonus or wager/cashback or something else. Never play without a good bonus! They don't just greatly reduce and even flip the house edge in your favor, but they may also be a useful way to control/limit your own play if you are the type to get carried away.

Perhaps most importantly, don't view gambling as a source of income, just because some people do it doesn't mean you can or that it's a good idea!

Exactly. A lot of people here have also stated that 94% RTP has given them bigger hits than 96%. And personally my sessions on PlaynGo and Pragmatic at 96% RTP have sometimes been brutal.

I have had a 6000x, 4000x and multiple 2000x hits on 94% Playngo.

Very few people make money from gambling, its crazy how many high stakes poker pros with tens of millions in winnings have a fraction of that to their name.

I don't think there is any difference in 96 or 94 handing out huge wins, but it is how they act after said wins - to me, it is very noticable how much faster a 94 will take back what it's just given than a 96 one will.

I fully agree with this point. It can be real helpful to be bound by bonus terms limiting your bet size while playing because there is always the temptation of bonus buys just a click away etc and those are usually a surefire way to zero balance!
