What's your favourite game mechanic?

Recommended Posts

I'm an old-school slotter, so my taste for slots are almost completely diferent from others!

My top favourite mechanism is the simple 5 reels with 3 or 4 rows format. With an excellent paytable, it can pay huge wins at the right time...ala Dead Or Alive or Dead Or Alive 2. Those Megaways, Clusters-pay and whathaveyou games do not attract me at all. I simply get bored playing them...they give rubbishly small payouts much too often...and the paytables are always at seabed bottom values!

Is winning counting as a mechanic?

Depends on your playing dreams i guess....some might not play a No Limit Slot for the fun in the mechanics of the game (half the time i find it impossible to work out what's going on and they lack, cos of that, the anticipation value a lot of the time) but they can spit out (even for UK players, monsters - see the latest, Disturbed which doesn't look like it needs a Bonus Buy for 55k odd x)

2-5 quid bets, some might be happy with 100x wins in a Netent etc on those stakes....

I played games like DOA, not for the actual game play, because lets face it, it's as dull as ditchwater but for the variance.

Overall, the mechanics mean little to me - what i would say, is whilst true, the can annoy - PNG's games are famous for the 'anywhere but there...and yep, it lands there'

Reel Strips v almost scratchcard like outcomes like jamming jars: again, not fussed as long as have potential to pay.

Tumble games, not my favourite - again, like i mentioned, sometimes they serve to infuriate more than often but a games not good until you win on it and then it is...

If you're a rep and want to see a truly awful mechanic then check out RAW games or Leander 😉 - certainly RAW make some of the worst games i've ever seen

Other things like volatility, how the RTP is split between base and bonus games and the general balance of a game, that are more important.

I love playing cluster slots. Also my new favourites are the hold and spin slots.

I think all pay ways ( 4096 ways etc) are right now the best ( Fixed is preferable better than Megaways for me) - Also depend on which provider design the slot - Blue Print or iSoftbet Megaways or all ways - No thanks.

I love grid games and PNG makes them the best!

Lets talk about Relax for a bit - All ways pays slot games is good, base game is alright, and hard to bonus, but keeps a steady balance. When you introduced the extra bet feature to make bonus hits faster or extra features in base game, that's when shiit hit sideways. I now hardly play relax base games unless I bonus buy straight. ( Money train 3 for me plays best in base game)

I think 4096 ways and increased pay ways features as you win plus grid games are the best for me at the moment.

Can I go back to the old school 15 spins with x3 multi games(25 paylines) - I'd take that too!

I know @Afi4wins loves any mechanic Pragmatic Play Produces and will soon add those games to his magnificent list!  😜

Hold and Spin is BS - Plays like high variance most times and pays like low variance

They are amazing to clear wager(on real money). These slots are usually not allowed with bonus money but when I deposit on winz or play at any other casino without bonus they help clear a major chunk of wager plus help build balance.

Whaaat? Hahahaha! 😜

I don't like Pragmatic Play as a provider, I don't like almost all of Pragmatic Play games, except for a very few old 5 reels 3 rows games, and none of their games would ever make it into my Magnificent list! 😜

But of course, I think @Fiekie247 was simply pulling my leg there! 😄

I recently started playing Vikings Wild by ElaGames. Although the %RTP there is not the highest, but only 96.5%, I liked the game. The game consists of 5 reels with 4 rows of symbols and 50 active lines. But I can't say that I have a favorite game.

Never tried that game. Will try it in the near future. Do you like cluster slots like reactoonz, tome of madness, star clusters. I like those types of slots most.

@RobertAnderson  As far as my experiences can tell me, any 50 lines games are very difficult to win on, plus a higher minimum starting bet of usually 50 cents. Maybe try on the more common games of 10, 15, or 20 lines, or if you prefer, Megaways games (personally, I hate them!)

Thanks for the advice, I liked reactoonz. I will also try this game in the near future

Thank you very much for your advice. I will try it :)
My approach to slot machines is that I don't think about the money I win in slots. It always stays on my game balance. I treat it as entertainment, if I have the opportunity to place a higher bet, I do, if not, I don't.  Thanks for the tips, I'll definitely try the slots you suggested

As far as Relax Gaming slots go, you got a couple of game mechanics, that are among my favourite ones, and a couple that ...well... should be illegal imho.

The TNT Tumble mechanic I really like (especially the middle bonus), the Beast Mode expanding wild bonus (no building needed, can hit big in one spin) and the Iron Bank "Coconut Gun" bonus.

On the dark side we have that "gamble one spin" feature on eg. Wild Yield. The Torii Tumble gamble features are vile too. Haven't played any of those - and never will. They seem terrible and morally questionable tbh.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe it was BTG who started this Gamble free spins feature with Extra chilli. It was criticised my almost every streamer back then. Unfortunately now it has become an industry norm.

You are absolutely right, and although I love Extra Chilli, I've never gambled for more spins on "the devil wheel" either. So I agree, BTG set it up, but I still think  the Wild Yield "one spin gamble" is the worst feature ever conceived.

My favorite game mechanic is the one found in Mahjong Solitaire. I love the challenge of matching and removing tiles from the layout by selecting pairs with the same symbols. It's a combination of strategy, memory, and pattern recognition that keeps me engaged for hours. The satisfaction of clearing the board and the feeling of accomplishment when you successfully uncover a pair you've been searching for is incredibly rewarding. Mahjong Solitaire's mechanics make it a timeless and enjoyable game for me.
