It's hard to think of a lot more industries that have really capitulated over the years - the one you're looking at today has shifted so widely from that it was, even back in 2016. Hard to pinpoint any sole reason, sort of like a melting pot between Government intervention (USA/Australia etc), inept Regulators (UKGC), increased political influence, a wider societal element (culture of players), some casinos going public (increased shareholder pressure) and casino practices in general.
