Skrill now accepts cryptocurrency

So, you may or may not have checked your email this afternoon but I've just had one off Skril to say they're now accepting cryptocurrency. You can buy and sell instantly from 40 flat currencies to Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin or Ether.

 

Am I right in thinking then, once you've excganged it back to your account currency you can just use it as normal money then? Also I thought bitcoin was anonomys, is it not when you're buying and selling through Skrill?

Bitcoins biggest issue is shaking off the negative perceptions of it. No matter what it does it still gets associated with Silk Road    Am i buying into Bitcoin? Nope. Does blockchain raise hopes? Defo.

It also means that anybody else can transfer crytos into or out of any specific Skrill account. I'm not 100% sure of this, but that's my understanding of it.

As for the highlighted in red bit - also the fact that you will have little or any financial recompense that say you would do if FCA regulated etc

I've mulled over using bitcoin but honestly, right now, there is no benefit for me personally here in the UK. I use Trustly so it's pretty much instant anyway and without worrying about conversion fees etc. Literally not one benefit. Only way would be if i wanted to go VPN and play at some dodgy joint and/or gambling was banned here in the UK

Don't know if that's just a bold move or some desperate attempt for catching the trend train in the last possible minute.

What I hate to see next is users complaining about their stolen cryptos from Skrill, Neteller, etc...and it is BOUND to happen...believe me!

First time heard about crypto currency ( Bitcoin ), I was kinda skeptic about it and didn't like the idea of it but it became more popular each day so I decided to give it a try by signing up at a Bitcoin casino, I believe it was Bitcasino.io that offered me a €10 worth of Bitcoin no deposit required by simply participating in their contest, months have passed and totally forgot about it. Then one day, I received an email from them about their welcome offer that I still haven't claimed so I decided to take a visit and surprisingly I saw €10 worth of Bitcoin in my account, checked the details and it stated 'contest winner', I was kinda indifferent about it so I played it a bit roughly and won big times, my balance went from 0,10mBtc to 1BTC within a day. Because it was a freebie, max cashout rule applies, so I thought but I went ahead and just try to withdraw the whole 1BTC, 10 minutes later I got 1BTC in my BTC e-wallet account, I instantly upload my Skill account with it, got around €1000.

I'm not sure how my story is related to this topic...I guess because I could have uploaded my Skrill account with over €10.000 if I've waited a few months longer. Crypto currencies is unstable and it's value could rise or drop in a blink of an eye. I guess if you're interested in Crypto currencies, you need to study them and I ain't got the patience nor the brain for it, I always fell in sleep whenever I read mathematics books...at the first chapter. So I guess I never had any interest in crypto currencies. Just the plain hard cash is all I need.

Different people love or hate cryptos for varying reasons. Mine is purely personal...nothing to do with the Bitcoin itself, but more on what it represents and what it is supposed to do, but most people won't understand it anyway.

It's a history and roots that it'll be hard to shake off...even the recent hacks on systems generate the negativity 'Please pay the ransom in Bitcoin' etc - so right now, it's still associated with criminality and other such nefarious intentions. Whether that matters is another debate

That reminds me of one true case...one guy had accumulated several million $$$ in Bitcoin over the years. His best friend later found out, stole the code from him after finding out where the code was being safely kept, and successfully stole all of that millions worth of Bitcoin. Well, that best friend finally got caught, but all the millions couldn't be recovered - lost forever!

 

Well...that's the truth about Bitcoin and cryptos...once you've lost it, there's absolutely no getting it back!

Being careful alone is not enough! The biggest thing to remember is NOT to tell anyone about your cryptos... not even to your best friend...and in some cases, not even to your spouse/partner!

 

Cryptos can be stolen in so many ways. My short story above was about a best friend who got some accomplices to kidnapped the crypto owner, forced him to reveal where the code was kept, then his best friend went over to the house and stole the code! A crooked spouse or partner could do the same thing too!

 

All in all...what the fargh would anyone want to be in such a situation anyway? Yeah...of course...MONEY...WEALTH...GREED...!

Maybe I’m not seeing it but what’s the benefit of this? For use in casinos that don’t do Bitcoin? Doesn’t seem worth the bother IMO

 

Interesting read on Blockchain and the use going forward. Seemingly GDPR is going to be an issue in getting rid of the barriers for adoption for many organisations (deleting data). Talk of changing it to make it easier to delete information goes against one of the main selling points - incorruptible data. It was from some of the biggest insurance companies about who don’t appear particularly enamoured by it (caveat by the fact that insurance companies are notoriously risk averse anyhow)

I looked at their portfolio, and in principle impressed by what I saw. And ,what do you think it makes sense to immediately make a mobile application or it is not very important?

Nope, because you cannot send your crypto outside of skrill. You can buy crypto in Skrill as investment and then keep it while it gains value. However if you want to cash out you need to sell your Crypto to skrill balance. However if you bought crypto with "Non Gambling funds" it will be credited back as Non Gambling funds into your skill wallet.

If only you could send crypto from Skrill to other crypto users.
