Looks like Marius and formerPokerpro are going to be the biggest fish in the forum in 2027.

We're on borrowed time over here, they're blocking and pursuing more and more of the casinos and payment providers available to NOR citizens, and the heavy weight media is all over the Curacao leak  as well - bringing further attention to our gambling habits.

I consider myself fortunate to have been able to play more or less seamlessly and uninterrupted for so long but I think the time will soon be up.

I asked about the curacao leak and was told:

The "Curaçao leak" refers to recent high-profile investigative reports and leaked data involving the Curaçao online gambling framework.

Curaçao has long been a popular offshore jurisdiction where hundreds of online casinos get licensed due to low taxes and relaxed regulations. However, recent developments—including leaks exposed by international investigative journalists and mainstream media—have shone a heavy spotlight on:

  1. Unregulated Payment Networks & KYC Failures: Leaked documents and investigations exposed how Curaçao-licensed entities and third-party payment processing networks bypass strict local laws (like Norway's strict banking bans on offshore gambling) to route money directly to offshore sites.

  2. Exploiting Black-Market Jurisdictions: Investigative reports (such as major probes covered by mainstream European outlets) revealed internal operator lists and strategies used to target players in countries with state monopolies or tight gambling bans (like Norway).

  3. Political & Regulatory Shakeups: The Curaçao government and its new regulator (CGA) have been under intense political fire over compliance disputes, internal leaks, and legal settlements with operators over verification and money-laundering failures.

Why Norwegian Players Care

Norway operates a strict state gambling monopoly (Norsk Tipping) and heavily restricts foreign sites. Because of this:

  • Banking Blocks: The Norwegian Lotteries Authority (Lotteritilsynet) regularly pressures banks and payment processors to block transactions going to offshore casinos.

  • Increased Media Focus: Media exposure surrounding Curaçao forces regulators in Norway and banks to tighten the vise on the payment intermediaries, e-wallets, and crypto-fiat ramps that Norwegian players rely on to deposit and cash out.

increased media scrutiny from these leaks makes it much easier for authorities to identify and shutdown the remaining payment backdoors, leaving foreign players with fewer ways to play.

Because Norway’s gambling authority (Lotteritilsynet) legally mandates Norwegian commercial banks to block standard credit card and direct bank transfers to foreign gambling merchants, offshore Curaçao casinos rely on alternative payment channels and routing workarounds to get money back and forth.

The primary methods used include:

1. Payment Intermediaries & Third-Party Processors

Instead of the transaction showing up as "Casino ABC" on a bank statement, offshore casinos use specialized payment service providers (PSPs) and e-commerce routing.

  • Disguised Merchant Codes: When a player deposits using a Visa or Mastercard, the PSP routes the transaction as a standard online retail purchase (e.g., e-books, software, or digital services) so Norwegian banks don't trigger an automatic block.

  • Open Banking / Instant Bank Transfers: Payment providers bridge the gap by routing local bank transfers through intermediate foreign bank accounts, bypassing direct gambling flags.

2. Intermediate E-Wallets

E-wallets serve as a middleman buffer between a player’s personal Norwegian bank and the Curaçao casino site:

  • Revolut & Wise: Neobanks with foreign IBANs (like European accounts) are very popular among Norwegian players because they don't apply the strict blocking filters that traditional Norwegian banks (like DNB or Nordea) enforce.

  • MuchBetter, MiFinity, Skrill & Neteller: Players deposit money onto these digital wallets first, and then transfer the funds to the casino. When cashing out, the casino sends money back to the e-wallet, which the player can then transfer back to their account or spend via an e-wallet debit card.

3. Cryptocurrency (Bitcoin, USDT, etc.)

Crypto has become one of the most widely used methods for Norwegian players using Curaçao casinos due to its decentralized nature:

  • Bypassing Banks: Deposits and withdrawals move directly between personal crypto wallets and the casino’s crypto wallet, completely skipping the Norwegian banking system.

  • Speed & Anonymity: Offshore operators prefer crypto payouts (often settled in stablecoins like USDT) because they are instant, non-reversible, and avoid payment gateway fees.

4. Prepaid Vouchers & Gift Cards

  • AstroPay, Paysafecard, & Neosurf: Players buy digital voucher codes online using standard payment methods, then enter the 16-digit code on the casino site to fund their accounts anonymously.

Why Scrutiny (and Leaks) Cause Issues

when news leaks or media investigations expose these specific third-party payment processors or e-wallet workarounds, regulators press banks to block those specific processing intermediaries. Once an intermediary gets flagged, that channel closes down, forcing casinos and players to find new alternative routing solutions.

I'm in support of getting rid of the 3 currency choices.

@Blackjax whats your intent with the 5c minbet rule, are you going to be playing ~5INR(5cUSD) etc on slots where the minbet is 0.20USD/EUR/CAD/NZD etc as a result of such a rule if implemented? Twice as cheap as NZD, 4x cheaper than USD minbet. It's just going to lead to arguments imo and others then picking ARS/other currencies to match it etc. Thats why I prefer admins discretion to say hey that betsize is too low/not accepted if/when it happens.

You often bet 10INR happily at AG, you bet >.10eur elsewhere without complaint.

Competitions should be fair for everyone. The minimum bet rule can be unfair and likewise maximum 3 currency rule can also and is unfair.

People should be given a choice to play in whatever currency without anyone feeling they are being shortchanged.

Everybody on the forum should be allowed to play in the current active currencies- EUR, USD, CAD, MYR, INR, NZD. No minimum bet. Play with whatever bet you want.

This way no one will have scope for complain.

I play in Eur, usd, CAD and NZD at one other forum.

I respect the minimum bet rule of that forum. I dont know what you are trying to start. Maybe you need better instructions from your PM boss.

I don't see why we would limit currencies, being that it might be hard for me to find an INR supporting casino from NZ or a good bonus for MYR(is really a struggle from NZ it seems). It should be open to all fiat currencies so I don't feel shortchanged as you put it. Whats wrong with ARS etc if it's still > 5c USD.

Instead of fixing the issue you are trying to complicate it even more. Your intentions are clear. You want the maximum currency rule to stay as it is.

Sounds like the 3currency cap can go either way, so the real question is the minimum bet. A single minimum defined in eur-equivalent at contest start, with local amounts listed in the contest post, would keep it fair without case-by-case admin calls.

My suggestion is this:

Min Bet Rule: 0.10 USD/EUR/Equivalent

Exception: Min Bet 0.10/Equivalent if in your own LOCAL currency (eg. 0.10 MYR/RM)

3 chosen currencies rule to be removed - any FIAT currency allowed!

10 cents will involve too many calculations. 5 cents will avoid that as most currencies minimum bets are above that. The Euro is volatile currently. But if everyone is okay with 10 then so be it.

The difference between the two would mean anyone can play 5 payline games if on 0.05 min bet rule, but it would clash with the min 9 paylines / all paylines must be active rule, so it would make more sense to make it 0.10 min bet.

Okay then. 10 cents seems the best.

I'm not, MYR and INR are not the same in casino range, bonus offers and bet sizes generally so its why I have issue with a very specific set of currencies where only 2 of them allow bets as low as you are suggesting for titles that are typically 20c minbet. It could be as simple as all fiat accepted and you must include a live google conversion image from your currency/bet to usd with your entry if it's an unusual currency.

Let things stay the way they are

I will make the decision on contests in the New Year, what everyone says here are merely suggestions but AG will ultimately decide how the contests will run, We will never please everyone unfortunately,
