What is your biggest 'break' from casinos?

kayenne23

Recommended Posts

Hello there community. After reaching 1 month without playing slots etc. i came to the conclusion that the 1st week was the most difficult, after that everything ran pretty smoothly. The reason i did it, was that i was spending quite a time playing and i wanted to take a break. Another reason was that i was starting to run a bad luck, which might bring your wallet pretty pretty down to the bottom. So folks, always spend money that you can afford. Never ever take those kind of risks. Anyway, what is the biggest break you took from casinos in general???? Huuuhhhhhhhhhhh..........?????

Huh?! 🤨

But you just posted a casino review today...whaaaat the . . . . ???

Whaaat? That was played 3 years ago? Hmmm...okaaaay... 😜

What's my biggest break from casinos?

That depends...if it's from casino bodyguards...then it's my arm...if it's a nice big winning break, then it's 24k...if it's breaking something that belongs to a casino, then it's a slot machine's 1/4 inch thick display screen...if it's a break from playing slot games, a few hours of sleep...

Okaaay, okaaay...so it just goes to show that I'm BORED!!! 🤣

Want a correct proper answer? Wait until I'm unBORED! 🤪

The reviews i posted are done now. But the casinos or bonuses i took were a long time ago. :)  So yeah.

I mean take a break from playing slots or cards or roulette etc.

Why are you bored btw? Job's boring as well?

Why am I bored? Oh geees...everything I guess...the pandemic, the lockdown, no happy times with any woman for ages, no money to really play slots as much as I want, etc, etc, etc, hehehe.

Well technically 3 weeks and practically 3 months. The thing is that since new neteller and skrill regulations I have not been allowed to add gambling funds to my ewallet for 3 months.

In the mean time I did win two AG coins and after winning them I did gamble. I also managed to cashout a few no deposit bonuses and deposit them again. But since I lost them I am unable to gamble. Even though I have a gambling budget which I am still unable to use since I cannot deposit.

You can say I am on a three week  forced gambling break.

Ahh well, sometimes regulations are quite harsh. I had to face such regulations before by skrill-neteller. The good thing is that I always find a way to bypass them. 👹

Ps. From my personal experience, the regulations will stay like this for years before changing again.

Longest break from gambling - almost 5 months.

When: 10+ years ago.

Why: gambling too much (6+ hours daily on a regular basis), chasing losses, had to be crystal clear with myself whether I'm addicted or not and if Yes, how much exactly;  IMO, got clear with myself I was addicted at that time, maybe not beyond the point of no return, but certainly addicted to a degree when it started to affect some of the aspects of my life;

Actions: had one of the most difficult, painful and straightforward conversations ever with my wife (we are together for 20+ years), explained and admitted everything, asked for her support and promised to face all the consequences;

Result: got an incredible support from her and we managed to get out of that mess loving and trusting each other more than before; we agreed I can keep gambling but with a fixed monthly budget which we can afford and that's it;  that monthly gambling budget was and still is in place with few important clarifications we made over the years - a/ we both have full access and ability to monitor it; b/ winnings are split equally, 50% goes to the family budget and the other half goes to fund the next month/s budget; c/ significant wins (more than 1000 USD monthly) are spent asap, usually funding family vacations or buying more expensive family 'toys'; d/ my wife always have the final word on any budget related matter! 🤣

Toughest moment/s: the first 10 days after that conversation when I realized I was really really struggling to come back to playing; took me a lot, and I mean A LOT, to resist the temptation and urge but I did it somehow;

The reason why I'm sharing such a sensitive and delicate moment of my gimbling life with you @kayenne23 and the rest of our amazing forum community is very simple, but well tested and tried over the years - you will never be a safe gambler without a/ total honesty (with both yourself and your most beloved one/s) and b/ strictest possible control over your spending. :)

Well @ValDes thank you for sharing this, it shows the true and raw side of gambling, when it gets out of the safe zone. I think we all have been there, especially players who are quite ''old'' to this thing.  I as well had quite a rush the first week, even checking my email's inbox for some offers, even had those anger issues due to not playing,  but after a week or so, i started realising that family do comes first in all matters. Kuddos to your wife btw, she must love you pretty much! :) (at least i'm not the only one whose woman makes the final MONEY decisions 😅) Your tactic is pretty good btw! Might copy it myself! :)

@Afi4wins valdes mentioned in his comment that he has been with his wife for 20+ years. In these times when relationships come with expiry dates for someone to stay together for so many years is a big deal. Thats why I said " Jackpot."

Aaaaah...is that what you meant? Okaaay...got it now. 😜

I take breaks regularly. I tend to get a nice win than just walk away or a major loss. I try to write down what I am looking to lose max.

Right now I played on BitStarz and inadvertently had a bonus I wasn't aware of until a few spins in (hard to tell the deposit amount and how some games reflect your available amount). I had a bad losing streak down 8 LTC. Ended up saying oh well I will play to their crazy limit and had some amazing wins on No Limit games. I finally hit the wager amount and had 9 LTC to cash out which was amazing. Then during my withdraw they said no you bet over the 0.1 LTC limit (other casinos has a higher limit with a bonus). and took my winnings. Hey rules are rules but that started my current break for awhile since It was pretty disappointing to lose that much.

I'll save up some extra cash and play again in a few months!

Think anyone who plays casinos, even moderately, needs to remember they're not immune to a decent into addiction. Sometimes you could be one bad day away from triggering a series of events that could push you under.

So, when you hear someone's lost houses/jobs through stealing etc, try not to judge them too much as one day that person could be you.

Longest was probably 10 years ago for a year.

Personally, i've always had issues with impulse control. Not as much with gambling funnily enough but more with my drinking in the second half of my 20's where i'd literally disappear for weeks on end - just not knowing when to stop (one of the highlights being having the living s*** kicked out of me in Frankfurt when working there). I don't need to exert TOO much re gambling but still need to check it now and again.

Then we have NLC advertising 150000x wins which are really 75x, leading to probably more actions to come from the UKGC and MGA (see MGA are kick starting more SOW's) which will, anyway, probably reduce the temptation for many 😉

I know this disappointment. Been there as well. Well yeah rules are rules. But it will be itching for a while. The best thing is that you know when to take a break mate! So congrats!🎉🎉

I totally agree with you when it comes to not judging other people's actions such as losing houses etc. But many people tempt to criticize from their personal and up in sky snowflakes.

From your story I can definitely say that we have something in common! Frankfurt am main. Lived there for many years. (God awful weather) I think a year off was pretty good! Especially if it was combined with the drinking as well. 😊

I think if the casinos start asking for sow(mga) and also expand the time frames on withdrawals, players will either go to curacao ones or just stop gambling and maybe fund some based land casinos. But that is just a personal thought. 😋

In my particular region, Asian online casinos are really quite freely available to anyone to play. They use local depositing methods, like money transfers via ATM and CDM, and now have even started accepting local ewallets as well. These casinos use trading company accounts for all transactions, not gambling establishment accounts, so players like myself do not face any issues in depositing money or withdrawing money from these casinos. A business trick that really works well, even though local banks actually know that these business accounts are really for gambling purposes!

This is one reason why I always find it utterly difficult to stop myself from going to the nearest ATM to transfer money into my regular local online casino. There are no restrictions for making such transfers at all, as long as I have cash in my bank account. Non-Asian online casinos, on the other hand, have now become out of bounds for me since Neteller and Skrill have stopped allowing money transactions for gambling, so that's an automatic break for me, liking it or not. The only way for me to take a long break from gambling would be on my own WILL POWER, but that hasn't happen yet! 😜

Anyway, my longest break from gambling was for about 1 or 2 months, many many years ago, not because I had wanted to take a break, but because I was hospitalised. I didn't have a laptop at that moment in time, so there was simply no way to play. Once back home, it was back to normal routine! 🤣

Does the lockdown have a big impact on your gambling activity? In Germany, a lockdown has already been declared until April, how is this with you people? 😅

Hello guys! Actually I always take breaks depending on my results. However sometimes as you all know it's pretty hard to stop and prevent yourself from losing max :D The biggest period I didn't play slots was like half on a year(I mean for last 10 years). Everyone would agree that covid-19 made a perfect area and situation to play slots every single day :D

I can totally agree on that! Lockdown brought a lot of money to the online casino industry.

Yeah bro. It changed a lot everyday life. When even worktime is connected with home it's so hard to abstain slots. Actually I can't say it's a bad period of my life as I'm winning more than I lose in distance and it helps me to live my grey work days :)
