What's Everyone's Views on Megaways

I mean I think I already know the general consensus from other topics in the forum but, what are your views on Megaways at the moment? Loving or hating?

The OH is really getting into them, he showed me a screenshot earlier which I've just pinched off his phone to show you here. Now I don't know if it's just my old age showing but I'm just not feeling them. I've never been a huge fan of games with 2-3-4-3-2 reels (as an example) and games like that. Over the years there have been some I've enjoyed I'm not going to lie but I'm just getting boring and want to stick to the traditional 5x3 with a few exceptions. Anyway, tell me your thoughts or screenshots if you have any. This is at Playzee Casino by the way.

I used to love it when it was only BTG gaming owning the engine. I mean now every provider uses that Engine and I am sure BTG are making a killing since its a trade mark.

However, with that said - Blue Print gaming , its almost impossible to bonus their megaways releases these days, only on certain slots though. Which is why I cannot play Blue Print megaways slot without buying the bonus feature anymore, too time consuming and there is no interest or excitement is just spinning the slot for you to wait it out. Like Bonanza still gives me that sense of excitement while spinning knowing the base game potential it has.

iSoftbet is just in general HV, empty spinning slots in general for the base game, however their bonus rounds can seriously pay no doubt.

In general I have mixed feelings for megaways at the moment, with the exception of Bonanza, honestly I have never seen a 117749 megaways base game spin in any of blue prints megaways releases, so to me all theirs are about the free spins, however Bonanza was designed to give you a good combination of both.(Or that was how it used to be).

Some good versions of them; Aztec, Temple Tumbles and few others. Despite what folk say they do appear regulars on Casinos top wins each month but that’s maybe just how many are playing them.

No better or worse than 9 liners or 247 ways imo.

I imagine there’ll be another year of them being produced. Obviously is a market and demand for them but yeah some folk prefer the no whistles of DOA etc and they can be very gimmicky

As Fiekie correctly explained above, the so called "Megaway" engine variance could vary drastically from one gaming provider to another. What matters at the end of the day is the ratio between big wins, variance and empty base game spins IMHO and in that aspect, iSoftBet is offering the worst one, especially with their latest release Aztec Gold... It's ridiculous how many spins could go without any or < x2-3 wins! Still waiting to see anywhere online a proof that the Mega jackpot could be won though.  

Personally, believe that Big Time Gaming is still holding the best implementation of the ratio mentioned above. Which is not surprising giving the fact they are the creators of the Megaway casino engine after all and certainly explains why most of the biggest hits (in terms of x bet wins) in 2019 were on BTG games such as Mr P's favorite Danger High Voltage and Lil Devil for example.

Bottom line, proceed with caution.

Oh, beloved megaways slots where you need to spin so much that your finger is gonna fall off from clicking and not get a feature(Monopoly Megaways), and when it finally happens winnings aren't even 100x.On top of that games such as Desperados Wild, Extra Chilli, Vikings Unleashed megaways are just too dangerous as you can gamble your bonus away 50-70% of the time and not get anything.

Meanwhile, I'm happy with some slots such as Deal or No Deal Megaways or Sweet Success Megaways, easier to bonus but it's still a risk as it's not guaranteed that you are gonna win free spins.In last month I did about 5,000 spins on those 2 games and my biggest win is 300x, even hit jackpot once on Deal or No Deal.

Spot on - whilst the licence might be granted to others, the maths model is certainly not....massive difference in some of them across providers. 

But yeah, i hear some folk claim they don't pay but with Lil Devil eg.  throwing out really big wins, it's not true. 

Red Tigers implementation of them hasn't been too bad...not too keen on Blueprints though.

Good thing with MW's is that you can withdraw from base game hits (bit like a MG 9 Liner back in the day) - only issue is if you make the BG RTP too high you expose the bonus's for a series of 10-50x wins etc - balance that's not easy to achieve, especially when different players have different tastes. 

One of the reason they're criticised is that due to the amount of them there are some real stinkers in there.

Very hard to know if for example Monopoly is super HV or just rubbish - personally, i think it's rubbish and gimmicky. 

A very underrated one is Buffalo Rising.

The BTG takes trolling to a new level - you can almost witness the pre-programming in motion. Awful release - why make these progressive type slots that seem intent on actively annoying players I don't know. You play 2/3 times and simply don' go back to them.

Easy money; you licence out and are without the developer fees for new games yourselves. Regular income stream as well.

No wonder they’re such as cash cow; the competition is pretty poor; PNG rehashing old games, same for PP, MG have just gave up etc. Netent release a good one and then go back to nonsense.

To be fair to BTG at least they try and make some of their releases ‘new’; hard to say that about the rest.

Netent, had a couple of do-overs in the past 4 months to be honest. Play N Go as well. I dont know much about MG since I cannot play them. I Still believe VIKINGS from Netent is the best IMHO.

Push Gaming doing well, as they only had 2 do overs on their existing releases, however I like Razor Shark much more than Tiki Tumble. My only problem with Push Gaming is the fact of their delayed game releases. We have been waiting on that Joker Troupe for a while now and nothing.

PP is the worst, I still don't know why Casumo Host games like Wolf Gold or Mustang Gold on their 2000 euro races.

Lil Devil I have given that slot over 600 spins with no free spins feature, and only 6 hearts on both sides (Extremely HV).

Yeah that's the one. As they have not released anything for the past 3 months if I am not mistaken. So the slot is being delayed, not sure why?

But I remember Razor Shark was delayed almost by a year apparently.

Joker Troupe seems extremely with caution extremely HV. I think its even worse than Queen of Riches @ValDes

When you see winnings like that on Lil Devil or this one on who wants to be a millionaire, remember that 1000 people had to lose before that happened


I had around 10,000spins on this game 0.20-0.40$ stake, and it was ultra-hard to even trigger free spins, this just proofs that low amount of spins can pay too.

Call me whatever you want...but why the heck must the free spins in Joker Troupe go at that blazing speed...??? You cannot see what is happening, what is being won...or what wins are being missed...and who knows too if that was a glitch and a wrong payout was made???

I find it rather stupid to go at that speed! I would rather spend 30 minutes watching and enjoying every win that I'm getting...and then remembering that massive win for my entire life!
