angel71
I like to think of myself as rather seasoned gambler, I have gone through a lot of verification processes on a lot of sites and and have even won a substantial progressive jackpot but only in my Adult camming Days have I ever been asked to provide a selfie with a homemade sign to include the casinos name the date while holding my picture ID! pretty extreme considering they have every piece of ID I own, and the withdraw is for a small $200! anyone else? Is this even legal?. I have signed up with many casinos based on the information I have received from ask gamblers and its ratings and feedback’s. However I have to say, In my opinion and experience the highest rated ones are not the best casinos Just saying! Thanks! cocopop3011
pinnit2015
Only in rare circumstances have I closed accounts and getting one of these requests means closures. Whos the casino? Did they ask you after a withdrawal request? Homemade sign... lord, give me strength

angel71
The casino requesting a homemade selfie sign is Wildtornado . It’s extreme and ridiculous, especially for $200. and when I told them so the reply was “Do nor worry, it is a standard procedure and it complies with our rules.” WOW NEVER heard tell of that before....anyone else? also I was told in an email that my documents will be verified in an hour and it’s been 16hrs AGAIN it’s $200 cash out and mostly as a test to see how easy or in this case ridiculous and difficult to actually get my winnings. I won over 30K on ANOTHER the site and they never batted an eye. I was already verified and had only about 6 months game play at the time. I BELIEVE There is not another casino online that wouldn’t give me tons of hassle to pull out that kinda money. So if $200 requires a selfie among all the other documents I imagin Wildtornado would want a blood and urine sample for a big jackpot win! I can only post 1 message so in reply to the person whom had their bet lowered as “standard system check” or whatever it was,,,,, close your account. It happened to me, was playing small bets and slowly increasing to $1,$2,$3 and had a few good hits took out about $1500 over a few days then went to,play my usual games to find out they forced me to play a max of .10 yep ten cents. I said ***** you Jack and closed my account! Oddly enough AG had them blacklisted right around then and It wasn’t me who made the complaint! Did you go through KYC before depositing, or this is the first time you are sending the documents, anyway get your money and it's up to you what to do next? I would for sure not come back there. I had experience with a goodwin casino that wanted me to take a selfie holding ID which is anyway disturbing but Riobet casino wanted me to take a selfie holding ID + to write some numbers on the paper and hold that too I suppose lol. angel71
KYC? Sorry I don’t know what that means! I’ve deposited just under $1000 since mid September 2019 and finally I’m getting a $200 cashout, that alone is reason enough to close my account ! Yes first time giving my documents had no reason to before. Shouldn’t be this difficult, but there a very few online casinos that don’t try and find a way to not pay, stall or give a hassle ! I’ve taken note of your casino mentioned and will avoid! Thing is I’m pretty good at using AG site for information, ratings and reviews for researching any new casino I plan to sign up to and I’ve never read on any casino reviews about being asked for a selfie and home made sign. That’s a hard pass for me, I wouldn’t have wasted my money! Apparently I’m not the only one!

KYC -Know Your Customer "basically - proof of identity/address etc" Sorry that you had to go through all of that, I suggest you from now on, to verify yourself on the site you are gonna play before making a deposit, that's what I do usually to avoid any unnecessary withdraw delays/problems. pinnit2015
General rule here in the UK UK Casino's - VERY rarely, and certainly not in my case even when i won 5 figure sums a few times, go through this rig ma role All others - usually decent, standard KYC but not as automated as their UK counterparts PS - pretty sure a seasoned gambler will have heard of KYC? It's kinda international.
angel71
I don’t come to the forums, it’s my first time so I don’t know the abbreviations. I have been gambling online for about 10-12 years now I guess, maybe that’s not seasoned enough. Anyways with very few issues. Most sites just want to give you a hard time when it comes to taking out your money. I have filed complaints in the past because things just get pretty stupid for such a small amount of money. Generally research the sites before I sign up . I didn’t read anyone complain about such an excessive requirement so my bad I signed up and now I will comply, at least if it had of been more than a small amount im pulling out it would be worth it! At this point it’s just been a hassle and turned me off the site !

At this point it’s just been a hassle and turned me off the site ! There's certainly nothing regulation wise that says they can/should/will, ask for selfies etc - it's a casino policy decision in many cases. Some places may do it for all customers. Some may only do it if they have suspicions as to whether the person is who they say they are (apparently) - why you may not see others complain about it, as it's not typically what they do. To be honest, if you only played with Will Hill/Sky Vegas etc you probably, in fairness, wouldn't know about it as you simply don't get these requests - verification is all done in the background (as it should be IMO) KYC comes from banking regulations and anti money laundering initiatives. pinnit2015
So much change going on at the moment, with responsible gambling and increased emphasis on AML. When i first started playing online it was pretty simple - you deposited, played, won/lost, bonus terms were simply. Now? A lot different. From my experience dealing with countless Curacao licensed operators, have to admit asking players for all kind of selfies (simple selfie, with ID, with newspaper and text, with text only, etc ,etc ) is definitely NOT something new or unusual. In fact, most of these operators would apply such additional verification requests regardless the amount of your first withdrawal. Now, whether asking for selfie could and should be considered normal KYC operation is a matter open for interpretation and which should be forwarded to the relevant regulatory body for further analysis. Knowing how Curacao Master license holders are used to consider such matters though, you'd better simply comply with the operator's request, get your withdrawal and then you're free to choose whether you would continue with the casino or not. Keep in mind once the verification is over you are safe with any Direx operator.

Ha yeah I can think of a few sites where this is necessary none of which are gambling related ... that said some of the new "challenger" banks here in the UK are asking for this kind of verification as well now so I think maybe we are just all going to have to get used to it... technology is getting more and more intrusive by the week. I'm sure you have much better casinos you can play so definitely just get your money and play elsewhere, I'd say.
Thijs77
Hi guys, I need some help. A casino is asking for a selfie, with me holding my ID and a handwritten note showing the casino's name and the current date. It took a lot of trile and error, but I managed ti do it, shiwing my face, the note and my ID all very sharp in the selfie. I was pretty proud. After I had sent that, it got rejected, because 'they couldn't see the hand that was taking the selfie in the picture' ....wtf? As I am a middleaged man, without an IG account, I rarely take a selfie. Can anyone tell me how to make a selfie, with in one hand holding my ID and the note , that also shows the hand I'm taking the picture with? Thanks in advance, Thijs

Which casino is this? This is the most ridiculous request I have ever heard of, and a near impossible request since your hand is holding the phone! Thijs77
Thanks cocopop3011, I'll post the name of the casino as soon as the withdrawal request I made (and were approved, both before this strange request). I don't want to risk them making things more difficult for me. And yeah, if've never had such a strange (and impossible) request for the verification of an online casino account (and I've had a lot) Anyone got an idea how I can make such a selfie? Icy
This is starting to sound like Lucky Dreams casino! They had the same ridiculous verification process two years ago! Is this the same casino we're talking about or another?

Well no, I don;t have an idea, unless you set a timer on your phone and take a normal portrait picture. The reason why I asked for the name is so that we can check the terms and conditions and see if this is grounds for a complaint under unreasonable requests for stalling a withdrawal. Thijs77
@Icy no it's not Luckydreams. I'll tell as soon as I've received my withdrawls wich casino it is. @cocopop3011 after a few mails back and forth with support they told me that my hand doesn't need to be visible, but at least some part of the arm I'm taking the selfie with, so they can be sure it's a selfie and nobody else but me took the picture. So I'll try again and keep y'all posted on the progress, positive and/or negative, so the community can make a better decision when someone is thinking about joining this casino. First decide how far you need to be from camera where the selfie requirements satisfy, then click the picture. Thanks for the tip, it worked! After uploading a dozen selfies in a span of 30 hours, and having them be 'not approved ' by the casino, I managed to sent in one that met all their requirements (a selfie, while holding my (redable) ID and a handvatten note in one hand and that also showed (at least a part of) the hand that was taking the selfie). Support has confirmed that my account is now fully verified) Now I'll keep waiting on the withdrawals that were approved last saturday and sunday to hit my bankaccount. These were made after the first 'standard verification (ID,, proof of adress and proof of payement) was succesfull. Blackjax
