Something Odd about a Casino Located in My Country

Ok so I noticed the Skycity Online Casino NZ has a license in Malta which doesn't make sense

as the NZGC would be the only one to grant a license in NZ I've been to the Land Based one in

Auckland Dozens of times .

https://www.skycitycasino.com/about-us

I heard a rumor they had gone online but yeah little bit confused about the details didn't  even make sense till I spoke to support

Ally (12:36:56): No problem , Skycity Auckland and SkyCity Online Casino are part of the SkyCity Entertainment Group family, however, both operate independently, under two different licenses. This means that no data is shared between the two casinos and online/offline accounts are held separately, where balances can not be transferred

Ally (12:39:46): Skycity is MT SecureTrade Limited licensed and regulated by the Malta Gaming Authority, we follow all legal requirements 😊

Well if its legit clear horizons guys ....

Aaah...that's why the casino has a MGA license...it's most probably operated by MT SecureTrade staff too, or maybe not, but that doesn't matter much I guess. Is the casino open to the global market or only for your country?

Anyhow, MT SecureTrade is not very popular with punters, which you probably know already, but if it's the only local online casino in your country, then it's worth giving them a try. My local Asian online casino is simply the best for me, even better than any European online casino! No hassles, no KYC or SoW bulls, no max bet size limitation, and customer support is simply marvelous.

Isn't this more or less the same scenario with King Billy operating under Curacao and Malta license?

I believe Scatters and Stickywilds casino are the same

Naah. Kingbillycasino.com and kingbilly.com are two different casinos with same management and different license. The bonus package and other promotions are different even the wager is different 30x and 35x. One has 38 and the other has 33 providers.

if Kingbillycasino and kingbilly.com have the same registered trademark, then its the same casino.

Well Dama nv and N1 interactive are two different operative platforms. Payment process deposit options are different for both.

You can also have two legally distinct companies under the same licence: Videoslots and Mr Vegas for example. Even though deposits under MV show up as VS

Just to confuse things for punters when folk tell you: oh they're a different company 😄

Hi @RazorX

So, what exactly is the issue that is bothering you here? You think no NZ based Operator may go live without special license/approval by your local authorities or something else?

Thanks.

Hi Valdes ,

Not bothering me as such I just find it weird I mean from a legal point of view if an entity physically resides in a country they are subject to the laws and regulations

within that county I would assume  this question has been raised before many times with different casino's its actually an intriguing legal argument : for all intents

and purposes gambling technically takes place where the server is physically located .

Where a person resides is a separate argument as they are for all intents and purposes in malta when the gambling takes place if the server is physically located there

I believe our aussie friends across the ditch are having that problem I believe a question of law of a person "Virtually being located somewhere" comes to mind

I'm sure this legal scenario has been tested in court before surely it must have .

I have my reasons for examining the issue one of them being i saw a message pop up talking about how only people from my country could wager and then I saw the

whole malta license thing pop up and was like "what" lol why go to all the trouble just found it curious to be honest .

Yeah, asked out of curiosity tbh... You know @RazorX, when it comes to regulatory framework related questions, I'm looking at it from a slightly different perspective. MGA, although far from being perfect (still dragging their feet on building and implementing a working SE unified register for example), would never afford IMHO to grant a license without all the relevant due diligence, especially in terms of legal matters. I bet their Legal Team have more than enough experts in that area so I assume the fact they granted that license means something at the end of the day. That's all. :)
