Pay and play casino? What is that?

Recommended Posts

Hello Johnny,

Thrills.com will become a pay and play casino. This means that we won't be able to stay in the Canadian market as this market doesn't support this.

Pay and play mean that you can play straight through your bank account without registration or verification.

If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact us.

Best regards

Same for UK. Presumably because the UKGC here wouldn’t let them keep their licence for doing so?

Thrills were once good and then turned into a cashmio type casino of ridiculous offers such as ‘deposit 50 to get 10 spins at value of 20p’, so no real loss.

Is PayNPlay (basically deposit with registration) only going to apply to Trustly?

1. Deposit without registration (v little benefit here as registration takes 60s sometimes) and 2.KYC data apparently collected via your merchant bank so no need to send documents etc.

Be interested to know if the UKGC etc would have a problem with this as, now iv read it again, it reads as if KYC is still done obviously.

Hi Johnny

SpeedyCasino is a good example of this concept. You simply go to the website, you make a deposit using trustly or whatever method is available and play. You do not need to register or sign into any accounts or anything.

If you win big, you simply request a withdrawal and you will receive your money in 5 minutes or less.

Yep I've seen more and more of these casinos opening now but I've only ever seen Trustly as a payment method, not sure if any others have been included in it yet.

Can't say I'm a fan of this new phase - if you have an issue with the withdrawal how can you keep track of it with no account to log into?

I’m not entirely convinced by the benefits either. Don’t need to enter registration details? Who cares, it takes 2 mins.

As for KYC - if it’s done properly (Sky Vegas) it’s no hassle anyway - don’t need to send in anything as e verified. Maybe it costs the company less doing it via Trustly so that’s a benefit for them.

Obviously using Thrills as a pilot.

There were in fact other pilot casinos for this particular concept with Speedy Casino being the most discussed one among them.

Obviously some casino managers believe the benefits of not supporting and paying to Fraud and/or KYC department are bigger than limiting your potential players contingent to those using a particular payment method only. Time will tell, but somehow I feel we are just at the start of seeing this concept being more and more popular in the online casino industry.

Meant that Betit are using their (most rubbish) casino as a trial for their brand :-)

I don’t know how robust the Trustly checks are and/or if it will be available if you only want to use VISA as a deposit method. Surely using this play n go method is limited thought as it’s Trustly only at the moment? As they’re operating in Europe they still have to comply with AML so presumably they’ve got the sign off on it from their legal or compliance teams.

Risk wise for the company: lower costs for KYC collation, small KYC team etc. Be an interesting legal situation if, for example, the controls in Trustly etc fail and they’ve more Mexican drug money running through them than HSBC bank did. The loss of control of your own verification procedures to a third party, whilst possibly still being liable for any breaches of the ML Directives, is a difficult choice. One that will be made on cost - why spend 2 million a year on internal KYC when you work out the maximum you’ll be fined is 500k for example.

What we need is someone to leak the cost/benefit analysis done.

Time will tell - though what we probably all agree on is that the current KYC processes performed by some people are stuck in the dark ages. Guts for example took 4 days to verify my bank card - again, there is no reason for them to even see it IMO given the payment controls you can have in place. Never asked for it by a UK bookmaker online - and for good reason.

On that note - when you ring up a place and they ask to take your details to make a payment (which I never do and would tell people not to do so), iv never once heard anyone say ‘yeah, but can you send in a pic of your card as well’ so why casinos have to do so baffles me. They can set their payment controls so that cardholder and their details match (same as on the phone - can I have the name on the card). Strange.

So, I will be able to play there without any registration or verification? Sounds great, but I’m not sure how it works on practice. Actually, I heard about such format but I haven't tried it myself yet. Researched a little bit, but it never played. Nevertheless, I’m glad that Thrills is going to turn into such type of casino. As for me, since it's quite a good online gambling website, its new format needs to be observed. I hope it still has a customer support team because I’d like to ask them about the details.

Yeah exactly that. When you make a deposit your online banking verifys your identity. So, then when you withdraw it's usually instant bypassing the verification checks. I'm not entirely sure how the deposit process works for the first time as Ii haven't tried it myself yet.
