captain_puggy
Hi all I'm a new member so please go easy on me. Where can I start. I opened a Betfair account a short while back and won some good money via mostly football accas. I was left with 400 left in the account after losing some bets etc. I decided I wanted to cash out to which I found I was unable and the account had been closed. On ringing the customer services I found out that they wanted me to send in some proof of Id etc, I was assured that I would be paid as soon as it got clearance which can take a few days so I waited. Earlier this week I found out that I wasn't to be paid at all this was due to me self excluding from another site (paddypower). I must say the money left in my Betfair I had won honestly before I cancelled the account. After speaking to many advisors on twitter I was told that I wouldn't be getting anything other that the stake I had paid into the account at the start this was from orders from the security team. Yet again I rang the customer services and asked for a explanation why as j was totally in the right and the money was won honestly and he was free to check my history to confirm this. After a short while he could see where a error had been made and actually paid me the 400 to my cash card account, for only it to be cancelled via a rep on the twitter side. After a long battle with the customer service rep online she told me there was nothing more they could do and it was a security decision and all departments were to adhere to there decision etc. I asked for a complaints reference number and I was completely ignored to which I am today via Twitter. I rang again last night and spoke to another gentleman who actually Sat down with a manager and couldn't see any reason why I haven't been paid out. I have reference numbers for both of my above calls I should add and all conversations via Twitter. I was told that someone from the gambling office would email me or call me today to explain what the security decision actually is but yet again I've been ignored. I won't let this go as I know I'm in the right and will be building a case for ibas with cops of my converations and call references etc. Thanks for your time and I would love and help if possible. LeoDubbed
Hello captain puggy In have seen a lot of players with similar issue. Casinos are taking these kinda things very seriously. It is indeed for the safety/security/protection of both parties. I am afraid you will not receive your winnings and in most cases the deposits will be refunded to the player. There was a player who had requested a self exclusion but decided to open an account at a casino from the same group. I had the impression the player was aware of this and decided to make deposit anyway. He made several deposits but lost them all. He then contacted the casino saying that it's unfair for them to let him make deposits while he was on self exclusion and demanded all his money back. I believe he did receive his money back. Playing while you're self excluded will only brings you headache and frustrations. Best to stay away from casinos from the same group and seek another casino group or consult a gambling addiction program if you have the feeling you're addicted to gambling. volendam101
To my opinion captain puggy has to be paid his winnings. It should not be possible to open an account at a casino of same group where you have self-excluded. And if possible, they just have to pay your eventual winnings. Its cheap just to pay back your deposit. Think twice before you self/exclude at any casino , be sure you know which casinos are and will be involved as a group. This is the reason why I dont like to take the option self-exclude if I want to close my account at some casinos. Upon request from player every casino should close your account immediately without further reasons mentioned. I understand casinos will and have to store your details for a certain time , even after closure , but that is not my point. Ask any good casino with a good reputation and they close your account without delay, maybe they ask you why for feedback but you can give any reason and they will close. Tell them you will have surgery next week and you will come back as a lady or gentleman. Choose wise, choose the opposite if they ask. cocopop3011
Hi captain_puggy and thanks for the thorough explanation. You've already been given two different opinions on how this will go but I'm afraid the likelihood is that Leo is right! Even though you won what you won honestly if you have excluded from another site then they will forfeit your winnings and pay you back your deposits only. It's something they have to be strict on. And I assume you are from the UK right? Our laws here are pretty strict as you know when it comes to gambling, I doubt very much you'll get the 400. Sorry I wish I could have brought better news.
