Please can someone clarify for me whether I have a case or not

Started playing on casino I seen advertised on here (betstreak) as stated as accepting Irish players they have a curaco licence

I live in Ireland and have done so twenty years now but have a uk passport

I won on this website but they returned my deposits and cancelled my winnings because I have a uk passport , saying uk players are not allowed but thought passport just for Id

I wish sent copy of driving licence instead which is Irish maybe then would have got my winnings

Anyway now my account is disabled

Just wondering is there any point in pursuing this as always seem to lose out against them anyway

On one hand UK passport means you are a citizen of United Kingdom and therefore you are not allowed to play but on the other hand, you were playing from Ireland and also living there. If you ask me, you are still a UK citizen because of your passport. Have you asked live chat about it? Maybe someone from AG could help you with this.

No I live it the south of Ireland basically I should have changed my passport first lol it cost me 1500 by keeping my British passport

Personally, I wouldn't have played at a Casino which is licensed on some random South American island..... reason being as I'm not sure thier licensing is a strict and fair as it would be in the UK. Anyway, did you provide proof of address and do you have some other form of photo ID with your irish address on it?

So you're not actually part of the UK then and I assume Ireland isn't a restricted country? Like our rep said can you not send in your Irish driving license?

It's taught me to watch out for casinos that don't accept both nationalities as still not sure what I'm classed under sometimes just a case Of should have looked at rules more closely

I'm glad that at least one site is keeping record of the many dodgy sites that close and reopen on the web these days

No worries it's annoying just to read the good reviews on here saying good customer service when I have time might use your complaints service but deleted all data now in disgust it's been first casino to refuse me for being uk wish could get my money back from all the rest I lost on lol

Thing is you're not a member of the UK so I think you have grounds for complaint. If you'd like to use our service please make sure you include all the info you have and make it clear that you are NOT a UK resident and explain your ID issues otherwise the complaint will just be rejected.

I'd avoid anywhere with only a Curacao licence - UKGC, Malta, Alderney instead - not guaranteed to not have issues but at least its better than a licence that is worth less than a post-it.

It's a lesson to learn, terms could be very complicated sometimes and when you have a doubt, best to ask the casino representative regarding the matter. Save the conversation and this way, you have proof when they say otherwise.

looking around this site I am amazed at how many people set up new accounts with brands that are from miles away and not regulated in the UK

 

I would treat an online casino like your bank account - would you put £x savings in a company that you have never heard of, in a different continent and not covered by the FSA Financial Services Authority?

 

I always check who owns the casino and who regulate

 

Then maybe do a small deposit and w/d straight away to see the process and speed

 

I tend to ignore any upfront bonuses as this gets everything complicated.  If I play, I tend to work my way up the VIP scale and wait until I get a named VIP mgr.  I then ask them for better bonuses.  Also if anything goes wrong I have someone to contact who is 'on my side'.  I also get them to email me the bonus terms as it is amazing how many people in the operations side then do not see this!

 

maybe this site should do a quick guide to avoid lots of these pitfalls for new players?

I'm also from the UK however I've played in many, many a casino that isn't licenced in the UK and never had a problem. Also bonuses only confuse things if you don't read the terms, read these and they can come in very beneficial!

 

In answer to your question I believe the answer is no. Well...they would have to have a UK passport so if the living was temporary no they wouldn't be able to.
