SOLVED: Why I will NEVER EVER use Skrill again !! A caution to you all

So, I've finally had a reply from Skrill.

 

Out of the £150 that was stolen from my account they have refunded me £40.53. What an absolute insult. They said the rest of their money has already left their system.

 

I have no idea what they mean by this actually. Where the heck did they recover the £40 from then? Regardless of whether or not the scum bag who stole my money had the money still in their account Skrill should refund me the whole amount due to the fact fraud was committed on my account. And in my opinion its all due to their sheer lack of security. There are no measures whatsoever in place to stop anyone accessing your account (once they've hacked your details) and then transferring money to themselves by email.

 

What they need in place here is a security measure. For funds sent via email you should have a text sent to your phone or email with a code, you must then enter the code to verify the transfer.

 

You'd think a company like Skrill would already have something like this is place. Its clear to me that Skrill have no fraud insurance in place to compensate members which is why they simply can't be trusted and will never have the pleasure of my custom again.

 

wooow!! i cant belive it :o:mellow::angry:  i guess if their support would be faster you would get the whole money... this is just ridiculous :mellow:  i never expect this from company like Skrill

 Once Afi is back,he can tell his story,as I remember,someone hacked Afis Neteller account and tried to transfer money to some account in France.

 

Investigation and getting money back took almost two months dear Sharon.

 

I hope you will get your money back as soon is possible.

I had a similar problem, and my friend who is a lawyer, called someone from Skrill and explained some things. Two days later I got a bunch of excuses, and they returned my account with the money. Neteller is best solution, and from my experience Ecocard is also reliable...

Unfortunately that's the reality with all so called e-wallets, they are big in words, but too small when it comes to actions. At least that's my honest opinion. Neteller, Skrill, Ecopayz, Click2Pay, Clickandbuy, etc etc they will promise you everything to get you on board and start getting pretty high fees, but when it comes to solving problems... you are in a big trouble, waiting for days, even weeks for a simple email reply...  :angry:

 

I am using the services from both Neteller and Skrill from ages and they must have earned thousands from me so far in the form of fees. In return I received 2 months investigation from Neteller when they blocked my account just like that and 4 weeks run around from Skrill when I requested refund for unjustified fees applied over some of my transactions. The bottom line is that none of these e-wallets is at the required level of customer support and care when it comes to solving even a basic issue, let alone experiencing a serious problem like Sharon's one. They do not deserve to be trusted at 100% yet and I sincerely recommend you to keep no more than a couple of hundreds in your accounts at the most. As soon as you win big amount make sure to transfer it immediately to your bank account or credit card or even better, go to the nearest ATM...

Yep I completely agree.

 

When I started this topic my aim was never to try and get people not to use Skrill it was simply to raise awareness of the kind of troubles you could fall into. I was one of the unlucky ones that was targeted by what can only be described as scumbag thieves, for those who use Skrill or Neteller or any e-wallet as Valdes mentioned PLEASE please take head of his invaluable advice...

 

 

 I sincerely recommend you to keep no more than a couple of hundreds in your accounts at the most. As soon as you win big amount make sure to transfer it immediately to your bank account or credit card or even better, go to the nearest ATM...

Skrill's services and support are proving to be disgusting as per your experience. They addressed your concern for like more than 3 weeks and didn't resolve it properly as they only gave you a refund of just nearly 30% of the stolen amount from your account. That is just awful. Fortunately, I haven't had similar experience since I'm keen with my login credentials as I update my passwords regularly and get them managed via a password manager.

i just saw at Skrill that they added 2-factor phone authentication for security. i think this will protect our accounts more.. :good:

 

Two-step authentication has been advertised and implemented by Neteller from several months, but unfortunately it didn't put an end to hijacked and stolen accounts... :( Moreover, this kind of authentication is not obligatory, so there's plenty of what to be desired from both Skrill and Neteller in terms of security, regardless the multi-steps logon.

Oh no, why did I just see this? I am new to online gambling world and have just registered with Skrill today, already transfered my money to them! A couple of friends suggested it to me as one of the best and easiest ways to deposit money for online casinos.

I could have never imagined that such a big company can have such loopholes in their security system! And not to return money after that is just unthinkable!

Oh dear, my post was never for the intention to worry players about the safety of their money in Skrill, but purely to raise awareness to the importance of changing your password now and again.

 

I had a very bad experience, my case was handled badly but that certainly doesn't mean you will receive the same experience. In fact many of our members have been using Skrill for years now and not had any problems.

 

My advice is to just keep an eye on your account and like I said change your security information regularly.

You did the right thing, Im just a person who worries about everything all the time, dont mind me :D  I did not know that changing passwords helps protect my account though, so thank you very much for this info!

Haha, I'm the same, worry about anything! Well I don't know if it does it's just my presumption and just a precaution that I'll be taking in the future with other sites that require a password. One of the questions Skrill asked me when I had to fill in the dispute form was do you change your password regularly? So who knows.

I'm only now reading this thread and it seems terrible to me what happened to you coco; I think it is also important to stress we need to take cautions and use every tool we can for the sake of our online security, so I would recommend you install on your PC anti spyware (Maybe AVG) and also antiexploit software, in regards to this latter I suggest you download and install the free or if you can afford the paid version of Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit, you can find this specificall software and more by following this link: https://www.malwarebytes.org/antiexploit/ .

someone hacked my account When amount dedicated from my account i updated skrill by that even i called inform about it later they asked me to send dispute form, copy of my IDs, bank statment and address confirmation.. on last reply from skill i got this answer ((Unfortunately we are not in a position to assist you with a refund of the unauthorized transactions as the funds have already left our system.)) I think that skill steal my money. I am really disappointed with skrill

Hello alkaka and welcome to the forum.

 

Sorry to hear you've had the same problem as me. I received a partial refund and for the rest of the money that was stolen they told me the exact same thing. The money has already left their system.

 

The fact that they can't issue a refund for stolen funds shows that they don't care and also shows they have no procedures in cover fraud cases. So this will continue to happen to people an they basically don't care! Hence the reason I'll never ever use their awful services again.

Probably most of you have read about my stolen money incident from my Neteller account.

Not a few hundreds were stolen...but a few thousands of USDs!

The fact is...Neteller pursued this case for me for many months...and SUCCESSFULLY got every dollar and cent back!!!

 

Initially, all those money were frozen from release from my Neteller account, but after several days, all the money were finally released, but only after the affected trading houses were informed of the fraud cases involved. The good thing was, I was kept informed and kept updated of every step that Neteller were making, all the time! Those are EXCELLENT customer services, I'm telling you!

Compare that with any other e-wallet provider and you won't be able to...not even Skrill!

 

I had signed up at Skrill some years ago but never used it. When I was informed by email, one day, that a fee would soon be charged for maintaining my unused Skrill account, I immediately closed it! No thank you, Skrill...I'm not paying anything for no services!

 

Updating or changing your passwords on a regular basis is a good deterrent against small-time hackers...but are completely useless against professional ones! These blardy thiefs can hacked into any secured website, if they really want to. Pentagon and NASA got hacked into many years ago, so were Yahoo, Google and Sony too...and whatever else. NO WEBSITE is 100% secure!!! Banks included!!! Think about this!

 

But where e-wallets are concerned, I put my trust ONLY in Neteller...and they have proven this fact to me.

Maybe other e-wallets are just as safe too...but I really doubt it. All fraud cases are NEVER publicized, for very obvious reasons, so we users will never find out the dark side of these e-wallet providers, until we read cases on them, like in Askgamblers here. ^_^

Your story horrifies me, I only had £150 taken and cried, a few thousand would literally break me! And Skrill did not keep me informed at all I had to do all the chasing and keep on at them, I was told the same thing every time I spoke to them. It's being looked at blah, blah, blah.

 

Their excuse for only getting me back £40 is a joke and it just proves to me that they really don't have the facility to deal with fraud cases. And even though Afi I trust your word 100% I can never put my trust in Neteller either, I simply can't take that risk which is why I am now no long an e-wallet user! Shame, but the harsh reality of it is my money is much safer in other places. If it means I have to wait a day or two to receive my withdrawals then so be it.
