Thanks for the post.

The site was operated from Costa Rica, without a doubt a haven for criminals running online gambling sites. In part this is due mainly becuase the government is extremely lax and corrupt when it comes to enforcing its gambling laws.

Costa Rica-based gambling Web site that has ties to the Mafia, the office of U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman said.

Dominick Barone, 45, of Springfield was sentenced to 18 months and 38-year-old Eric Patten will serve 22 months in prison. Barone must also forfeit $100,000 and both must pay a $5,000 fine.

The two were involved with Beteagle.com, which was owned by 78-year-old Joseph Graziano of Springfield. Authorities say the site was used for illegal online sports betting and was operated by Barone and members of New York's Genovese crime family, among others.
