What's The Biggest Mistake You Made Gambling Online?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Trust that you had a pleasant weekend and fresh for the week ahead.

Before I start writing a game review I normally play it myself so that the user experience also reflects in it. Otherwise it's too one dimesional.

Must admit I really like the NetEnt games and my favourites are Aliens, Jack and the Beanstalk, Jack Hammer 1 and 2 and Gonzo's Quest. Been wanting to ask the experts this question for some time now. Which brings me to my question. What's the biggest mistake you ever made gambling online? The biggest one I made was making three conscutive spins of $20 each playing Gonzo's Quest, after my third spin I only realised my mistake. Long story short I virtually depleted my $100 bankroll in a jiffy. I accidenatlly set the coin denomination to $20 instead of $0.8-this happens when you play slots until the wee hours of the morning. A major oversight on my part I know.

Thanks.

Great topic :)

I'm still a small gambler, therefore I think I couldn't make big mistakes so far.

I don't have much time to gamble (maybe luckily), so my biggest mistakes for now are that I get into lazy mood sometimes and want to hurry up with completing the wagering and rise my bet too much for my total balance, secretly hoping that bigger bet amount will help me to hit something big, and then it goes to 0 extremely fast :D

Hahah Jelena I knew this and it is very funny.

I made few mistakes with coins size and it was too  late to fix the problem, and it was 20 dollars or euro bet.

Anyway I never went higher then this, but when I realised what happened I was upset.

Lately and spent my winnings in casinos and it is mistake because I needed that money and I would consider as my mistake bad decisions that I made when it comes to bet size.

Cheers and don't repeat the same mistake twice.

:80:

The biggest mistake I ever made while gambling online was back in 2009 when I hit several Marvel Hero Jackpot at Betsafe totaling over 7K+ euro and ... played almost half of it back in less than one month. Lesson learned though, a hard one, but definitely very useful. :)

You're wise now cause if you don't make mistakes, you're not working on hard enough problems. And that's a big mistake.  ;)

I saw this in our new games topic and I am really sorry to hear this.

Seems that some females are taking serious risks, you are the one and I am the one myself.

Recently you won jackpot trough so many withdrawals and yes, Cool Wolf was very generous to you. Now it seems pretty high bet of 5 euros but I guess and believe I would do the same.

I wish you went for a walk or anything else but no to lose your many.

After all, easy come easy go.. but 1300 euro is huge amount.

Be careful.

Indeed, but wise people are learning from other people's mistakes while we learn from our own mistakes. :(

Anyways, I guess what's most important is to draw some serious conclusions after these mistakes and never ever to let them happen again.

And a costly lesson indeed. I guess when the adrenalin starts flowing, especially when you're playing a progressive game it's difficult to stop.

Nah, I lost half of mu winnings playing on totally different games and none of them was a progressive one... Greed! Greed is what's behind most of my mistakes all the time while playing across online casinos... :D

Well, luckily i could say that i have nothing to blame myself over couple of years of gambling :)

I am such person who of course make mistake but i forget about it almost instantly. It's gambling, we all make some mistakes!

Indeed I do not remember to make a big mistake in gambling ever. If one does not count the little mistakes when playing BJ following the best strategy. Or 3 cards poker like BJ.

My mistake was just yesterday. I wagered a bonus at Casino Adrenaline, I had around 150€ and I lost them, chasing Wild Desire and outlaws. Felt really bad because my deposit wasn't big and I had made a nice profit.

Ah, chasing a feature is also bad. Big mistake, which I make sometimes, is trying to trigger free spins or bonus round, in the game that doesn't give anything particular, but you just keep spinning and saying - okay, just one more spin..okay, this one too..and then, even if you trigger FS or bonus, they give you nothing special or just it's too late for them :D

Example of mine: Playtech's Sherlock Mystery (because last time this bonus game gave me fantastic wins).

It was the same for me. I played and thought- okay, if my balance goes down to ..., then I'll withdraw. Each time I reached that number, I thought- but maybe I'll get the Wild Desire and then it probably will be worth it.

Don't even try to chase IR, Katerina already took it all.

I would play only DOA Blondie.

Ah, that old devil greed, sigh. She's paid me a visit more than I cared to remember such is the human nature I'm afraid.

Seems like this thread is really picking up speed, thanks to all who chimed in.

My biggest mistake thus far is that I tend to become reckless especially when I'm having a winning streak. I don't always stick to my initial game plan. You're most probably wondering what is my game plan? I divide my slots play into two different categories: The first one is playing for entertainment and the second playing for cash, in other words I'm chasing the dragon with the latter-big wins .

1. Entertainment/Review purposes: When I craft a game review my bankroll ($50) is relatively small, a low coin value of $0.01 and I bet $0.4 per spin. I test out various aspects of the slots I'm playing, i.e how long it takes to activate the bonus round (aka free spins), game settings and the type of wins I get on a set coin denomination within the base game.

2. Chasing The Dragon: I usually have a bankroll of up to $450. Regretably this is where I tend to become 'reckless' and I don't always follow the advice I give to our visitors. I must admit if I'm disciplined I usually end up winning. So, what is my strategy? I target 3 different slots machines: Gonzo's Quest (my favourite), Jack Hammer and Jack and the Beanstalk. I'll set aside $150 for each game and a coin value of up to $0.05 and a bet of up to $2 per spin. If I don't trigger the bonus round (Free Falls) within 20 spins I stop playing but I must admit this is easier said than done. If I have a nice win I bank a portion of it.
