Why is basketball so susceptible to corruption?

Did you know that the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) in the USA recently banned six basketball players for game manipulation and illegal information sharing? Not only that, but I also found that basketball is among the most susceptible sports to corruption compared to football (which I always thought was the most corrupted sport in the world)... What could be the cause of this?

Very simply put...the BIG GUNS control everything where money is concerned!

That means controlling important betting events, controlling bookmakers, whatever...

Like cricket it's relatively easy for the player to pretend to have a poor game and the sportsbooks allows people to bet on very specific actions where the player fixing the outcome can put themselves in control. Spot fixing in cricket happens so often because you can bet on outcomes for specific balls in an over etc.
