Hello everyone,

I have been playing poker more often lately and I am curious to hear from those with more experience. What is the biggest adjustment you had to make when moving from low-stakes to mid-stakes poker?

for me the biggest change was how much tougher the player pool gets. at mid stakes you see fewer obvious mistakes and more people balancing their ranges, so you can’t just wait for premium hands and expect to get paid. i had to focus more on table selection, paying attention to who the weaker players were and adjusting to the regulars. also, bankroll management becomes more important since the swings are bigger when the stakes go up.

The biggest adjustment is adapting to tougher opponents  players at mid-stakes bluff less, balance ranges better, and spot leaks faster. You need stronger hand reading, better bankroll management, and more discipline to avoid tilt.

"Online cash games from $1/$2 up to $3/$6 (aka 200NL up to 600NL for No Limit Hold’em games) are considered mid stakes. Live cash games from $5/$10 up to $10/$25 are mid-stakes games (aka medium stakes)" - do you mean this numbers speaking of?

For me, the biggest adjustment was realizing you can’t rely on players making huge mistakes anymore. At mid-stakes, people fold more correctly, bluff more selectively, and punish lazy lines. I had to tighten up my fundamentals, think ranges instead of hands, and stop assuming every big river bet was “just air.” The edge is still there you just have to earn it with sharper decisions.

I was more of a MTT player than cash, over time lost the patience to play for 6 hours for a 5x my buyin win etc even if I was playing 6+ tables(not a big grinder,  8 tables I had no issues with)
