Sharing information about limits imposed on player with different bookmakers using same platform (white label)

I would like to ask if my experience may be valid subject of complaint, so I will not name concrete bookies.

I was betting at one bookie on some specific sport, using my knowledge and strategy I was winning  relatively easily (with wins and loses, but consistent and steady positive income). I was aware bookie will not like something like this, so I tried to place not too high stakes, mostly just stakes in height 5-20 euros. When I reached winnings maybe something under 2000 euros (I was betting also some other some sports, but primarily that one specific) my maximum stake for that specific sport decreased to maximum 1 euro and single bet on specific sport events. Maximum stakes on other sports stayed unchanged. There was slight limitation even before this, my odds for this sports decreased by few %, but this was not a big issue for me.

When I got this limit I first thought it is maybe just because I need to be verified with KYC procedure, I tried to make withdrawal and found out that really I reached amount that they wanted to verify my identity with documents. It was quite challenging procedure, we exchanged many e-mails, they still wanted another and another documents and photo proofs, but at the end I successfully finished this verification process and I could paid out my funds. But maximum stakes limit did not disappear.

I asked support why this happened and they answer was "The betting company reserves the right to limit a maximum stake on special events as well as to limit or increase a maximum odd of a certain client without any notification and giving reasons."

So far so good. If they analyzed my bets they probably concluded I would make them just losses in long term. I understand it and accept it, although they did not admit it.

The problem is I registered with different bookmaker (owned by different company) who is using the same betting platform (white label). The truth is that I need specific offers, events and lines provided by this platform only to be able to make consistent profit. However, there are quite many bookmakers who use this platform. So I registered with another bookmaker and my negative surprise was I had same limits that were imposed by original bookmaker. It meant that they share information about account limitations within same platform. Is this legit behavior? Can this be target of AskGamblers complaint? Thank you for your answer.

Hi and welcome to the forum, It's okay it seems as though there is just this one post so all is good. I'm afraid I don't know much about sport betting, but the good news is we are accepting sports betting complaints now, should you need it. 

Are they completely different bookmakers? Not part of the same company?

Hello, in the meantime I tried to contact support of the original bookmaker with no big success. Operator just keep replying same things - that they are not connected to other companies and so on. Maybe they truly are not. They are certainly different companies (though I cannot exclude the possibility there are relations between their owners or even somehow have common owners, but they are different companies), but they are using the same betting platform and sharing this kind of information might be the feature of that platform and not their intention, but I think they are still responsible.

I will probably try your complaints section, but before I do, I would like to ask if this issue actually qualifies for something that can be complaint about (cause after all it is not issue with withdrawal, deposit or account verification) and if you think there is some chance of success. All I want is that if they pose limits on my account that these limits will not affect my other accounts with different bookies.

What would you want to achieve from the complaint? The betting limits removed?

Not for the original bookmaker who placed the limits. I accept their right to impose such limits. I find totally unacceptable that they share this information to other bookmakers. I suppose they will not want to admit it, though it is very clear that they shared this information.  What I want to achieve is that they conduct steps to stop sharing this information, possibly on betting platform level. If I register with another bookmakers they ultimately may place the same limits, but it should be based exclusively on bets I make with them and not based on information from previous bookmaker.

I can imagine it may work in that way that if one bookmaker place some limits then those limits are automatically connected with his name, address, email, phone, IP, payment account, etc. (not necessarily all of them ) and this information is stored on the platform level - individual bookies might not be even aware of this. But of course this would be very convenient for them - that way they can detect winning player right after he creates the account with them and fill in personal data. 

The main question is if this practice is legally acceptable. If it is, there is not much I can do about it. But if it is not I think they are obliged to cause those data will not be accessible to other bookmakers who are using the same platform.

This matter is literally a grey matter, the way I see it.

Where business is concerned, sharing customers data is not illegal. All online businesses do that...the data can be made available when needed. Bookmakers and casinos are business entities through and through, so shared data is not uncommon nor restricted between them. Each company doesn't have to be related to one another before they can share info.

If one customer is noted and proven to be a high-risk customer, every gambling entity will get to know that person sooner or later...just as casinos know who the excellent card-counters are when playing table games at casinos, so these card-counters would be prevented from playing at their casinos. It certainly is not illegal what the casinos are doing, it is merely in the interest of their own business!

Sorry for the late response, been on vacation during the last week... 

As far as I know, yes, the Operator is allowed to share their players info with the relevant software/gaming/WL/etc provider/s and as advised by @pinnit2015, you can easily check that by looking at the Operator's privacy policy. 

When it comes to sharing info cross Operators via the relevant WL provider, I'm afraid it's the relevant regulatory body which granted the license who's really capable and authorized to provide adequate response on the matter. IMHO, this shouldn't be allowed BUT privacy matters have never been my strongest side so you'd better forward the matter to the regulatory body and wait for their response.
