Najkie
Hello, Im new here so feel free to move this post if its in the wrong category. First of all I have a gambling addiction that finally my family know about know so I can start getting help for it. I read somewhere that some people got money back from casino and sportsbetting sites from diffrent circumstances. Back in 2014 I self excluded myself from one of the big actors. They asked if I only wanted me to block sportsbetting but I answered that I wanted a TOTAL block on my account. Around 6 months later I contacted them again and said I wanted to play again so they said they opened my account again. I lost a six figure amount after that in 2 years then I blocked myself again. Some months later I played on another site that is in the same network as the first one that I self excluded myself from twice. Lost alot of money on the second site before I self excluded myself again. My quesiton: Is there any chance of me getting some money back? Is it really okey for them to open my account again after I begged for a total block? Best regards, Najkie
pinnit2015
Presumably this was done on the phone? Main issue here is does 'total block' (if that's the words used) equate to self exclusion. If yes and certain if UK, all transactions will need to be void (Net Deposits) and money returned. What leaves it open to interpretation (to anyone ruling on the above) is whether saying you wanted a block was indirectly/directly saying you had a problem. For example, could just be frustration and not necessarily a statement that you were a problem gambler. Or....it could be viewed as a 'time out' (which i think will disappear in the future as the lines between that and SE can be very thin). Do you need to explicitly state 'Self Exclude me'? AFAIK, not necessarily - you could ring up and say you were spunking your salary every month, lost house and wanted to close your account. As below, pretty sure there was something that said that a casino should have viewed this as a SE (can't remember where i read it). Such an approach is riddled with problems in my view but i can see the point. The UKGC has been asking casinos to be more proactive when it comes to identifying problem gamblers - people who ask for bonus offers are being tagged as this for example, and there was one case recently that the GC stated that when the casino say this they should have done more - getting a bit ridiculous now IMO. Did you get an email etc confirmation after this and, if so, what did it say? If you'd done this online, via their links etc, it'd be pretty clear what exactly you did enter into. I'd a casino wrongly classify my a/c closure as a SE years ago - showing the perils of leaving it to be an arbitrary decision to be made by the casino. If you didn't have a conversation around something like being a problem gambler I'd hazard a guess it'd be viewed as a timeout and ergo, the money is gone. Just my view - i don't know the workings of the regulator, only from a passing interest, and to be fair some of the guidance here in the UK is a little sparse around certain areas. Najkie
Thanks for youre response. I asked for everything they have on me from the betting/casino site. My chat history with them is kinda embarrasing. Asking for bonuses almost eveyday. I have the chat log and as many other people with gambling addiction its hard to confess it. I said in the chat log that I have stopped playing so block my account. He replayed only sportsbetting? Then I said no a total block. The details they put on my account that day it says: self excluded. 6 months later im back asking them to open again, they said sure you can play again in 7 days. 10 days later I still could not play so I contacted them again begging to open my account and they did directly. I have littarly lost everything and im in big big dept but greatfuly everyone knows about it now so I can get support with the problem. Is there any case for me you think? The sites are all under MGA.
