Handing out stars and AG rating...

Recommended Posts

So, maybe this topic should be placed under the Askgamblers section, but I think of it more as a general thing. Mostly. :)

Quite often I see that a 10/10 review can contain sentences like  "just signed up the other day..." and/or "...never actually made a withdrawal"

Wow now, wait a minute. Personally, I don't even see how that is possible if you just signed up, and if the casino just opened up last week - that last star, should be greyed out. A casino should earn that. That takes time. (similarly, I don't think a 1/10 is fair either in many cases, other story though).

But what really "bothers" me (not really, hence the "") is that we are ready to hand out the gold medal. The best of all good. Without even trying the one thing, that very thing that tell us more than anything else about the casino. When we ask for "their" money. That is part of their livelihood.

Sure a lion might be friendly if you walk up with a big juicy 20 pound stake. You might even be able to pet them like a little chihuahua. Now, try take it back and walk away... :)

Just look at the complaints section, out of the 16 cases on the first page, 100%, that is 16/16 are about....WITHDRAWALS. In one way or another. Might it be stalling/declining. Whatever it is - it is about that very thing - that thing that we don't even take into consideration when we hand out 10 stars. Who cares right?

Lets say you meet somebody a night out and buy them a few rounds. After enjoying a few drinks on you, maybe smile at you at best, you suddenly feel the urge to tell the world that this is the man or woman we can all trust from now on. The true definition of a perfect human being. 10/10. Of course they will pay next time. Why wouldn't they? Right? mmmm....

Actually there was more to this post. But I realise I might already just stepped on a few toes here. Didn't mean that, if that's actually the case.

I'm just the 2nd post dude :)

Hi Kevin

Well I don't know about stepping on anyone's toes, we're all entitled to our own opinions and this is yours and to a certain extent I guess I agree with some things. However I can usually get a feel whether or not I like a casino on my first deposit, I wouldn't rate a casino 10 out of 10 without going through their withdrawal process but we're all different.

We welcome reviews from members all over the world regardless of how much experience they have in the casino, as long as it's their own experience we welcome it. It's up to the reader to then take on board as much as they want to from the reviews.

Hi

Thanks for sharing your thoughts as well as AGs policy.

I guess we can say then that user reviews are more of a user experience, may it be brief or extensive or even based on just one piece of all the pieces.

Maybe I value reviews a bit too much. I really don't see it much as something I would do for myself, but rather to help others as well as not ruining somebodies business, if we look at the other end of the scale. As I mentioned theres the 1/10 rating the we can throw out based on a 5min "bad experience". Like a bonus we should receive, but for some reason didn't. If I look at a new casino and find 3 reviews, and all 1/10 - I don't bother even reading. That has to be a crappy place.

Don't think thats fair actually. But honestly, lately, due to extensive spamming from affiliates, I actually would want to give those casinos a 1/10 - based on just that. Maybe I should...

But hey, I'm just the 3 post guy... what do I know :)

Thanks once again for you input!

Hi Kevin S.

Yes, I agree with you but some point you need to understand that everyone is "entitled to their opinion" and we can't blame them for choosing the maximum star of the minimum star that is available for them to give. Your suggestion is good and I think it can be use by the Askgamblers future upgrade for that rating discrepancy and others will not just click in and abuse the star rating.

Hi Kevin,

Perhaps you should change your perspective for a moment and consider all the above from a different angle... The diversity of review 'styles' are equal to the diversity of the real persons who wrote these. When you find two people alike then I guess you will find their reviews alike or even almost the same. ;)

Hope you have already noticed that we believe in freedom of speech and as long as a review is not in violation of the AskGamblers Posting Guidelines it's good to go and stay. It's that simple actually.

Hello Kevin and welcome to the forum. AskGamblers isn't in control how players will rate casinos and like it is already said, its up to player and his will.

You are so right that most complaint refers to withdrawals but that's why you have AG to hold your back and work it out for you or for any players who has any issue related to casinos.

I think the best possible option is to check out casino yourself before depositing but ratings, reviews and forum really help. You can start anytime topic related to casino and get answers by active members here.

Thank you guys for the recent replies. I always appreciate people taking their time in doing so, and I have to say I find the comments almost elegant. Somehow. English aint my native language, but I always try my best to keep it at the highest possible level I can get at.

Now, as far as this subject goes, well, as ValDes pointed out - there's of course more than one perspective to choose from, in terms of how we look at it.

And I see reviews in terms of a guidance. Because that would be helpful. If I choose one of many paths to walk

my way through the jungle, I don't think the people next in line would prefer to know how I felt about it, but rather what it was actually like. So If I tell you that you're good to go down that path. You can bet on it and head on.

What I mean is, we have different sections here. AG review, User review, Complaints, Forums. If we want to express some feelings on just one thing, why not use the forums? And if you're all about facts, and have gathered all of them straight and feel ready to share them - pick up them stars and start throwing. In the review section now. A thing and place...

So, this is not to say my way is the way. Not even slightly. I'm visiting AG, and not the other way round, thus if somebody should adapt, it would be me. I'm merely, you know, sharing my feelings on the subject. But in the forums :)

AG has nothing but my respect. In what you do - and how you do it. AG has undoubtedly grown to become a respected trademark. Where an complaint in the early years seemed to hardly tickle even the smallest casino under the chin, it can now provide a real slap in the face, even to the big ones. How cool is that :)

With that said. Keep up the great work and thanks again for your inputs.

I only wish every member and reader would use the forum but I guess just some people aren't forum people. Before I joined AG I never thought I was a forum person until I tried it and loved it  :p

Oh my... you mean there really is no comma to the left of the last two digits in your total posts?

Well, I guess if you do something over 12k times, theres gotta be some kind of passion or something to it :)

Impressive. But watch out. I'm catching in on you.

Fair enough! Thank you for recognizing and appreciating our efforts so high, it means a lot to anyone here who's really really doing their best to bring some more ''light'' to the whole industry if you know what I mean! :good:
