You can find everything you need to know in the link in the first post. But basically this new feature will bring up a pop up to let you know that you are about to break the max bet rule, thus stopping from proceeding with that bet when playing with a bonus.

Furthermore re; the Max Bet Shield's functionality - You may also utilize this special feature outside of bonus play too. Should you want to regulate your game play and make sure that you're playing within your limits, you can simply access it via the player account, within the responsible gaming section.
