Licensed vs unlicensed casinos

Hi Guys,

 

For people in the USA.  Do you care if your casino site is licensed or unlicensed?  

 

For me, I don't think it really matters as we all know that the licensed casino are in locations that American Law can't touch them, so what is the benefit of a licensed site vs unlicensed? 

 

We have all seen time and time again that Kanawake or Caracuo, etc etc don't really act in the favor of the players so whats the big deal?

I'm not from the USA, but any casino that wants to be taken seriously by its customers must at least have a license.

 

It's also some form of consumer protection. And while you're right about the jurisdiction where these casinos fall under matter a great deal, I think you're much better of playing at a casino with a license. But yes, some jurisdictions hold a higher standard than others when it comes to awarding licenses and acting accordingly on player issues.

 

In that respect a license by the UK Gambling Comission, LGA or Gibraltar has more value than Curacao or Costa Rica for instance. But I believe right now that's the only place where those casinos which cater US players can get their license. I definitely wouldn't recommend to just play at any casino.

 

Do you research. There are some US casinos here that have good reviews and a good reputation of always pay customers on time like 3Dice and Club World.

First of all, you should be well in aware of the fact that actually it is impossible and illegal for an online casino to operate over the internet and accept real money bets without a valid license!

 

More or less, every online operator which accepts players from withing the United States is violating the notorious Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006, more info here. 

 

Currently, the situation with US players gambling online is as follows... The lucky citizens of the State of New Jersey are allowed to gamble online, but only at the authorized websites by the State of New Jersey's Division of Gambling Enforcement. More info here. All the rest could pick some of the other hundreds of online casinos, accepting players from USA and pray not to have problems with them as there is no one who could help them, at least not an official authority. Here comes the important role of gambling related websites and portals like AskGamblers for example, where you could read players opinions and observations, check info and ratings and of course submit a complaint against an operator in case of a trouble.
