    Gambling Dictionary / Glossary

    Hi!

     

     

    I have a little idea! :) Lets post here some words known only in gambling world, so we all can learn something from each others.

     

     

    All you have to do is to write one or more words with short explanation beside ( you can write some of the synonyms also) :) Doesn't have to be some complicated word, but also something like playthrough, withdrawal etc.. or not so famous sort of games :D

     

    (not the happiest explanation, but I hope you understand :D )

     

    I'll start with a few :

     

    Bust - used in BlackJack game, when you get over 21 and lose

     

    Pass - To fold, not to bet

     

    Full House - used in Poker like a name for a hand which includes one pair and three of a kind

     

    Jackpot - used in Casino for big win on a Slot machine

     

    Trips - used in Poker, for 3 cards of a kind

    Let me start with my favorite!

     

    LUCK (also known as big hit/big strike/big win/jackpot) - something you expect to come after each single spin, but always late (with decades)! :crazy::lol:

    Meanwhile, more from me:

     

    Bug - A Joker

     

    Bet - Player's wager

     

    Carpet Joint - word comes from the US and means luxury gambling casino

     

    Croupier - Dealer (Employee of the casino who deals the game)

     

    High Roller - Player who makes very large wagers and deposits

    Hey guys, im new to the forum! Heres my contribution to the dictionary :)

     

     

    Bet – Money wagered during game play

     

    Betting Structure – The set of rules for each specific game

     

    Blank – A card which isn’t helpful to players

     

    Bleed – When a player is consistently losing chips he is said to be “bleeding chips”

     

    Blind – A forced bet

    Turn - term used in poker to deal the second last card

    Yes Cocopop3011, I like the moments in the cards, giving an outcome that changes per round of betting. Not once have I seen the legendary Royal Flush. Only the Straight flush.

    Bad Beat - To have the highest possible hand, except the Royal Flush, beaten by one or more ranks higher. Ie. A Jack High flush beaten by an Queen High flush. 

     

    Call - To put in chips equal to bets made on the poker table, blinds or on a raise

     

    Raise - To make a bet, usually large, on a player's turn during any round (Flop, turn, river)

     

    Reraise - To bet higher than an existing Raise

     

    Royal Flush - The highest but extremely rare hand in Poker consisting on 5 cards. 10, J, Q, K, A all of the same suit! The destroyer of hands!

     

    Straight Flush - The second highest hand in poker containing 5 cards in a sequential order, suited. Highest being 9,10, J, Q, K all of the same suit.

    Yep! Some time back, I spent a lot of time playing Texas Hold 'Em on Facebook.

    Before that was Grand Poker on Facebook.

    Before that was I couldn't get her on Facebook.  :lol:

    All in - Term in poker to describe a player pushing all of his/her chips into the pot, usually based on a preflop hand or betting round (He has a Royal Flush)
