AllysS
Hey guys, I am new to this forum and would need your suggestions. I won 5000 USD recently from a casino. But the casino deducted 1700 USD as tax and paid me approximately 3300 USD. I don't have any losses to account for my win. I had a work visa and was obligated to report it as my income, so I had to pay taxes. But now that I am in Canada, can I get the tax I paid refunded? If so, how do I go about it? I have heard of US tax recovery services(https://casinotaxrebate.com/) helping people do that, but is that possible in my case. Also, in the current pandemic situation where the casinos are struggling, would I get my money back if I file a claim? Has anyone here been in a similar situation, if so please share your personal experiences? I really appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks! niran
You raise a good point, but are you a citizen of Canada, thats what makes the difference. You should call the CRA and they probably would help you out in this case! but the state that America is in right now good luck even getting a reply! wish you all the best!
