All I can say is when new to online gaming, it is complicated. Its as if the casinos want you to play no matter where you are,  its quite easy to play even from a restricted country it seems. And if you loose, no harm no foul no complaint all is fine. But if you win, then you are faced with the rules etc etc. Of course there will be no refund of what you lost playing form the prohibited country. But your wins will be cancelled. Unless by oversight (lucky to the poster above) they are paid. Many learn the hard way, it is not clear. In this day and age, people use VPN's to watch TV shows from other countries, its quite common, and is not really viewed as such a big deal by the average human to say you in one place when you are in another. However for casinos, if you do that and win, they will likely find out. But if you do that and loose, most likely nothing will be said or come up. I am not saying this is sinister or intentional, but I suspect its a nice profit source since not completely blocking players from blocked countries (which can be done), and letting them play, creates a money trap. Let them loose, and if they win no need to pay. It really should be changed so players from banned countries can't play. Anyway no way for this to happen, it is what it is. Newbies to online casinos often loose on situations like this. In this case the poster won, lucky him. Most don't, Yes he was wrong, but honestly I get the feeling many casinos intentionally make it easy for everyone to play no matter where they are from, to capture the revenue. Revenue with no risk of payback (unless by mistake). Anyway, not being critical of BitStarz, I play there. I never win much, and never loose much. Pretty typical of most casinos, nothing bad happening that I can see, they seem fair in the end (despite occasional heated moments which can happen at land based casinos also). So I am content with them. It just so happens that in my country I am very limited on which game providers I can play with them, no NET ENT for example, so I am stuck with others such as Endorphinia and Amatic and I don't see to find many posts about big wins on those platforms. Not BitStarz fault, just the nature of the beast. Thats it for my daily rambling. Good luck to all, don't forget social distancing!

Sorry I should have quoted the previous comment to help with the context. It was about ValDes comment to Mimi 72. Nothing against ValDes, and not the peoples champion for Mimi 72 either. I do understand your point and it makes sense. Good to justify concerns and issues. Freedom of speech is a good thing, but its also good to backup your statements with facts. Thanks for the reply.

I've been thinking about the impact of online casinos myself actually! I think financially players could be struggling over the coming weeks, I kow my household is cetainly going to be. Will I have money to gamble? I really don't think I will.
However, online casinos could also see an influx of players especially those who are in self isolation or lockdown or working from home. So to be honest I don't really know how this is going to pan out for the iGaming industry. Microgaming have released a press statement saying they are doing eveything they can to remain normal but I haven't seen any others making statements yet.

Our Clubs and Pubs in Australia are about to be closed - the traffic to online casinos is about to go up 10000x from our Country . We have Slots in every pub and club and as you may already know we are the biggest gamblers in the world.

I woke up in a whole new world recently. Surrounded by people wearing antiviral space suits, empty planes, masks and gloves and social distancing. Is this the Twilight Zone, or perhaps Black Mirror?
After going through my normal extensive travel routine, bounding from country to country and donating money to various land based casinos (as well as online from time to time), I found myself locked down due to travel restrictions for 14 days, three times in the last few months. And now I am in a country in which everything is closed (except hospitals, fast food, and convenience stores). No Starbucks, no sit down restaurant, no hotel reservations, no foreign travelers accepted and.....the big drumroll now begins...NO CASINOS!!!! They all text me to tell me they were closing (one perk of being a big loser in a small town).
Anyway, where I am going with this is that....given the mass closure of land based casinos in many countries given the state of affairs globally amidst the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, how are online casinos doing? I have a feeling they are getting rattled pretty hard also, since many of us are loosing all of our money in the stock market, others are off work, etc. etc. On the one hand land based are closed or if open are quite risky right now due to the virus, but on the other hand people have a lot of time on their hands at home which seems perfect for online casinos. On top of this is an endless stream of bad news and markets crashing and people without jobs. And by the way it's quite hard to catch the virus playing online, unless you are doing so in an Internet cafe or aboard a cruise ship.
Mostly I am curios if online casinos are struggling, as well as their gamer providers, and if so perhaps it is harder than usual to win (less money in seems to mean less money out - at least in my humble opinion - I never seem to win in an empty casino). Or perhaps they are making a killing (figuratively of course) right now, and as a result, soaring profits and lots of money in and a GREAT TIME TO WIN.
No idea, so curious if anyone has their finger on the pulse of this online gaming industry and can shed some light on the state of affairs for online casinos. Slow or busy?
And I would like to leave you all with some unrelated but much needed good news (you won't hear this on CNN):

Its as good of a time as any to find yourself again, some of the greatest achievements were achieved while under certain constraints. What i mean is that we need to try and look at the bright side, and boy oh boy, the winning in the online casino are defiantly compensating for the stuff going on.

I have to say your responsiveness and engagement on this issue goes a long way to re-establishing peace of mind. Somehow when we (the players of the world who know we are not up to something bad) are told we can't instantly withdraw our money, it gets a bit intense. Perhaps its a cultural thing. In some countries, where I have friends, their own bank may not let them withdraw money without knowing what its for and some times it can take a few days. However where I am from and where I spend my time, that would never happen. If I walk into the bank to take out $500 USD in whatever currency and they say only after I bring them my birth certificate, I would literally cause such a scene in that bank and move my account elsewhere since it becomes emotional when any entity wont give us money that is truly ours, immediately. However out of fairness to the casino world, there are reasons I understand why you have to follow certain KYC policies (thanks in great part to the influence of the USA and other governments) and in the end, its probably not the hustlers, conmen, hackers, and sleeper cells who are hit by this, its the regular tax paying law abiding citizens who end up getting inconvenienced. Not much different than airport security, when the sketchiest person you have ever seen with more bags than you can imagine passes through with no issues, and the 80 year old grandmother is searched with a full pat down and bag check. Oh well, such is life.
Thank you for your comments and engagement. Much appreciated. You had me at 10 million dollars in your comment above and the possible handshake if that happens. I watched someone put 50 cents in a machine last week and win 300,000 USD, so perhaps on a $5 bet this can happen (10 million would be pretty helpful I must admit, in fact I would settle for half that).
I already logged back into BitStarz and played with a lingering bonus so my appetite for your platform is coming back.
As always, in the end this was all solved. It got emotional. But I am at peace now.
    Thank you.

I imagine any good casino will not give you any pain, regardless of the amount...a casino that's happy to pay you 100 quid but suddenly start stalling on larger amounts would probably be an indicator that all is not well financially as a broad brush statement.
Bitstarz will follow KYC/regulations, regardless of how much you win

Would that be a good idea?....- even the best run casino's can go belly up and you can kiss that goodbye if something happens (unless UK and you have the highest protection for funds available), plus I think it might draw the attention of some casinos' compliance teams eyes when they normally have something in their terms about using the casino as a quasi financial institution.

Might be partly due to the fact that the 5th AML Directive began to introduce a definition of 'Virtual Currency' and basically said to exchange platforms/wallet providers that they must have x,y,z in place to combat financial crime and, critically, have customer due diligence.
On a broader level - often been said that between social media platforms and the like, they have more data on individuals than the CIA could hope for - in fact, pretty sure FB's facial recognition is on a par with the FBI's 😋

Yeah, it's a good point and one I've said a few times - you get a guy coming to your door to sell stuff, you pass someone at the supermarket asking for bank details to 'give to sick kids', we're programmed to balk at the idea...but with casino's we're expected, no, TOLD (via the UKGC's regulations etc), that we essentially have to hand over ID/Address/Bank details to a company that, due to most of them being based abroad, we have very little knowledge of and hope? they handle it properly.
Need to check when I've time but can't remember seeing minimum security accreditations being mentioned in licensing conditions other than 'adhere to data protection laws'

Not saying this is the case here but Guts (GIG Group) asked me (and others) to re-verify a few years ago - why? When i asked them the old line of 'We need to do this periodically' was trotted out. They switched platform systems at the time apparently and i don't think you need to be a genius to surmise that data was lost in the migration possibly. A person i know, call him deep throat, is adamant that their systems were (being diplomatic) 'compromised' which would tie into how some unique email addressed (only to that casino), suddenly made themselves onto various spam sites. Just anecdotal and nothing to say this was the case here.
In terms of protection - they're as bound by Data Protection Law as my company or yours. I'm not sure if there is an agreed upon security standard across casinos (other than things like PCI compliance) - you do see some state they are ISO27K accredited etc but they are mandated to report breaches should there be one under GDPR. Curacao or no Curacao.
Videoslots are a casino that will ask you to re-verify when your ID expires.

I wish I could give you permission to post my deposits and withdrawals, since I would be happy to (without my name of course).

Well, I deposited around $500 a few weeks prior, lost it but had fun doing so, No complaints.

Then deposited around $100 this week prior to the deposit in question, or maybe was $200, lost it, no issues with that all good,

Then deposited another $100 roughly (its in Bitcoin so not exact on dollars), and won $190 within a few minutes of game play. Tried to withdraw around $200 USD equivalent in Bitcoin, and was denied the withdrawal due to AML rules as you explained, while leaving a little in to keep playing. Had you let me continue as I was, I would have probably would have lost the money left in there, deposited the $200 again, and lost that also lol.

Well. you did not let me withdraw this (my) money.

However, after being shut down on this (arguing with your customer service rep by chat), I was committed to outsmart the casino and get my $200 back so I did bet on Mongol Warriors, got 5 beautiful princesses, which was around $100 payout in USD (around 200X bet I think) plus some average free spins so I did manage to get my $200 back shortly after and withdrew it since by then play through of my seized funds was successfully met. Not due to an exception but due to a bit of lady luck stepping in to prevent a non-money laundering person from paying the price of money laundering on a small loosing deposit streak.

Anyway, thanks for responding. But seriously, I am really convinced the only reason you held my withdrawal (blocked it I mean) is since I won in the first few minutes of game play and then tried to withdraw the winnings. You have never ever held a withdrawal before for me even when I did little or even no game play. This is the first time I wont quick and withdrew it that quick right after a win, and the first time in a year roughly of playing with you that my money was held due to AML reasons despite previous deposits and withdrawals without meeting play through. Ok to publish all of my history here without any identifiable information or wallet addresses if you think that would help.

The one thing that really makes people mad is when you cant get your own money out of a casino. I am not playing on bonuses, this is really money playing. I am not a money launderer. I am not even high roller. I maybe loose $3000-$4000 a year in your casino, and around $20,000 per year in land based casinos. if land based casinos start holding my money when I win in slot machines and march up to me saying sorry sir you cant take your winnings out you need a 3x play through I will resort to bingo and senior centers. And if bingo halls start holding winnings on play through requirements maybe I will quit all gambling once and for all. Well there is always the local lottery, I don't think they will require play through ever

Anyway, you are arguably one of the best online casinos, very fair overall, but this rule really sucks, it made a long time customer VERY UPSET for a very small amount of money, and truly would help in NO WAY AT ALL to combat money laundering. If you profile my account I am sure you would see no such red flags.

If you want to truly catch money launderers, you would look at people depositing consist large amounts, and withdrawing consistently, practicing such techniques as layering, structuring, etc. etc. But a $200 withdrawal on a quick 5 minute win? I still think its about increasing casino edge.

HOWEVER I WILL WITHDRAW MY OPINION AGAINST YOUR CASINO and instead blame the regulators if you can provide some evidence that your regulatory agency (license board) requires or suggests a 3x play through on even small and very infrequent deposits with infrequent withdrawers.

This has been a good discussion, and your responsiveness is worth a lot to me and others as well I am sure.

AND NOW THAT I KNOW ABOUT THIS RULE I cant complain about it if I play again. The problem is it WAS NEVER enforced before in your casino against me, but then again I never had a 3-5 minute quick win of triple my deposit amount and cashed out fast as a result. In the past I withdrew the same or slightly less than I deposited, with or without play through being met with no issues. So I do believe the trigger was the quick win, and not the withdrawal without play through. I think the AML is enforced when someone wins fast and withdraws. Am I wrong? Has anyone else deposited money to Bitstarz, and withdrawn it shortly thereafter without playing much (without a 3x play through) and if so was it a smooth process or was your money held? For me it was always smooth until now (quick win and withdrawal).

There's a lot being implemented in the background in the name of ML Reg's. Most of it is BS with many casinos seeing how much wiggle room they have.

x3 is solely and purely to give the casino a greater edge. Something that they don't need.

If they changed the the terms from when you used to play before then you would have been notified either via a pop up which is what I usually get at casinos or an email.

Money laundry schemes?  You mean, like washing dirty money?
But never mind matey...just kidding there! I know you mean money laundering schemes.

Yes, it is definitely true that such rules came into play due to the numerous money/bonus abuses and money laundering occurrences.

Players making a deposit, claiming the free spins offer, played the free spins but cannot get a win, then they withdraw their deposit! The casino gets no money, yet lose their free spins!

Then there are criminals with 'black' dirty illegal money, depositing into casinos, then withdrawing out 'cleaned' money, safe for them to deposit into their banks! The casino washed their dirty money and handed back cleaned money to them! Now that's a real money laundry service! Hahaha.

Those rules are specifically meant and directed at such players above...but we innocent and genuine players have to bear the burden and inconveniences caused by all those bas-tards!

BitStarz is a part of Direx n.v. casino group, this term applies to all of their casinos. In fact, there are many casinos require a minimum playthrough of 1 x on deposited money. This is a rule to prevent money laundry scemes. I too think it's a stupid rule but it is added not for nothing.

I do appreciate the response, and understand the concern about ML and various rules and the need to report what you are doing to combat ML, etc. But perhaps such rules should have a few more steps to truly go after ML's. Example, a deposit of over a certain amount. For someone who deposits $100, wins $190, and tries to withdraw $200....and its their first deposit in a week......is that really an anti ML process? People are ML'ing a few hundred dollars once a week? I would understand a 3x play through on a $10,000 deposit, or maybe even $2500. But on a $100 deposit is that really a ML issue?

I realize now its a rule, but wish I had known since in the past I am sure I deposited, and withdrew without even a 1x play through. I did this many times, for various personal reasons. Such as making a deposit, no time to play, next day deciding to send that money to an exchange to buy a hot new crypto coin, etc. It was never a problem to cash out my money until yesterday.

So if there is such a rule, is it being enforced equally for everyone? Or only when a player wins in the first 5 minutes of play time?

As much as I have lost this sure would be a bad money laundering scheme on a $100 deposit.

Anyway thanks for the words and response. I still dont buy the ML argument, I think its to increase casinos edge. If a land based casino made me play through 3 x on all money I brought in I would stop going there as well. How is that any different, putting $2000 USD in a slot machine in Las Vegas or Phnom Penh, winning $200 and cashing out $2200. Is that money laundering? How is online any different than walking in a casino with a pile of cash? So bottom line I think its a move to increase profitability under the guise of ML enforcement. If it was truly about ML you would flag large deposits and consistent withdrawals after a 3x-4x play through over a period of time with some degree of deposit/withdrawal consistency. It would not apply to a $100 deposit on a customer who just lost the last $100 deposit 20 minutes earlier and $500 deposit was lost a few days prior.

It would not apply to a $100 deposit on a customer who just lost the last $100 deposit 20 minutes earlier and $500 deposit was lost a few days prior.

globalgamer got a reaction from MacdoniS in Online Slots for US players - the challenges and some solutions
After having jumped headfirst into the world of online gaming, I have found some fundamental challenges as they relate to people either 'from" or physically in the US.

I am not in the US myself but fit into the "from" category, so long story short, when I register for a casino my credit cards etc are US based. Because of this, when I am in a non US country that a certain casino allows, I can gamble fine - but when I withdraw I better make sure I have proof of address for wherever it is I have been playing (other than the US), or at least a very good explanation of why I am using a US address and gambling in Hungary or Sweden or wherever it may be.

Sometimes when I withdraw funds they want to discuss in detail over the phone where the IP showed I was playing at the time of various wins (even though they allowed me to login from there) and question why I was there, how long I was there, what was I doing there, when I will be back, how often per year I go there, etc. etc. I suppose they are thinking I was using vpn software to trick them into thinking I was somewhere like Netherlands or someplace I was not - in which case I assume they would not pay. If I said "yes I won but I was really in the US at the time and was using VPN software to trick your server" then probably they would not allow the withdrawal.

That is more of a tangent from the reason for this post - and a soft warning to those US people who travel a lot as do I, to have your "ducks in a row" when it comes to winning and withdrawing hard earned funds (if lucky enough for that to happen).

I have not broken any of the golden rules of online gaming (yet), and have truly only gambled in places where the casino allowed it, so I was ready for this and if not I probably would not have received any winnings. However if I lost it all I doubt they would have given it back.   I ask that question for which they never have a good answer.

The main reason for this post is about casinos you can use when you are in the US - and the games they offer (or lack thereof).

The bottom line is that the selection is very limited when in the US, for online slots. For table games its fine, but for slots, no NET ENT, no DOA, and VERY few to choose from. However there are some I have found to be decent.

    Fruit Zen
    Dragons
    More Gold Diggin'
    5 Reel Circus
    Bulletproof Babes
    Mr. Vegas
    Gypsy Rose
    Green Goblins
    Good Girl Bad Girl

On all of these, while up and down and all over, I am overall up so far. And they are decent games, with good enough return to player stats, and enjoyable (however maybe not for all of time).

However to really have fun (which is most of the time since I am rarely in the US) I prefer to use casinos that cater to the various other parts of the world. One example is bitstarz and 7bit casinos. Those work fine since they accept US players, and they accept bitcoin, so its easy to join, and to play (as long as you ARE NOT in the US at the time of playing and especially at the time of WINNING). And winning and withdrawal by Bitcoin works fine also. They let you convert the bitcoin into EURO for example (using a third party instant process), so that you can play games such as NET ENT which does not accept bitcoin. So these are great solutions for US players who are abroad (and there are millions of us who either travel a lot overseas or live overseas, as do I most of the time).

I just want to caution fellow US players that if using a VPN from within the US and saying you are someplace you are not, in the unlikely event you win big...be ready to explain why you were in whatever place your VPN software placed you, at length. Without such an explanation, it would be highly unlikely to receive the funds (based on what I have experienced so far). And even if you really are someplace where the casino allows you to play, if you are from the US (using a US address, etc.) also you have to be ready for these questions, as is my case.

If anyone has had similar experiences or has other solutions I am not aware of please let me know. Would love to hear from others in similar situations.

By the way Video Slots allows US residents who are living in other "allowed" counties to join their casino, but you would need proof of address in the country you are in (possibly) in the event you win and they request to verify you (which is likely). I am probably going to sign up with them soon, once I figure out how to deposit (another separate post gets into that - they don't accept bitcoin sadly, so I am looking at options of which there are a few that seem viable and safe).

So in conclusion of this post, if you are physically in the US there are plenty of games to keep you busy (far more than I listed, but those are my favorite available inside the US at this time). Or if you are from the US and travel a lot, you can join and play without issues so many other games and casinos in other allowed countries, as long as you are really where you claim to be - or are good at convincing them you were when you really were not (using vpn software etc). There are some additional hurdles but as long as you are aware of these issues, you can enjoy hassle free depositing and reasonable time frame withdrawals as well, wether you are in the US or wherever you may be at the time.

globalgamer got a reaction from Afi4wins in Global Warming? I don't think so.
Great explanation, I think you should write a book on Luck! Seriously. Well said and I have to agree as much as I want it to be untrue.
