SUED58
Hi All, I opened up a SkyBet account and used it for football, horses and casino, made several deposits and a withdraw after being asked for initial verification. I was told my account was fully verified withdraw 5k no problems, put some money back in and won 8k and tried to withdraw and the account was suspended again. This time they want to see me holding my passport, the last 3 SkyBet transactions on my bank, ok fine, then they are saying the card I’m using is pre paid (it’s not by the way it’s a full UK Bank with account number and sort code) and they want to know where I’m getting the money from to gamble! Does this not sound right to anyone else? Do I have any hope of actually seeing the 8K I’ve won and do I have any legal rights, if they are taking people money and not paying out legally then surely this is theft? cocopop3011
Is the card a pre-paid debit card though which you have to move the money to to use? I know some of our high street banks have these now like Santander. It's actually not unusual for them to ask you to take a picture of yourself holding your ID either. And the reason they have asked where you get the money from to gamble is for money laundering regulations. I'm pretty confident you'll get your winnings from this particular brand if you comply with their questions. Keep us posted. frankel
SUED58
Thanks coco pop, It’s a UK Monzo card which is now a full bank with sort codes and account numbers, I never had the pre paid option and went straight to full bank account. I have sent them everything they wanted and been honest with them, a portion of what I deposited was what was owed to me from a family member, I guess I will have to await what they say

SUED58
I appreciate the response but why aren’t these measures put in place for deposits? The min you withdrawal and it’s any excuse to not pay out. I could potentially have lost £5K in deposits if i don’t see the £8K payout, where is the responsible gambling element there? I can assure you this is exactly what most of the fellow UK punters are asking themselves too... Feel free to forward your questions and concerns to the relevant responsible regulatory body, UKGC in this particular case and let's see what they have to say about it. IF they even bother replying at all of course... frankel

Hi, Uodate from SkyBet they are saying that they have taken a business decision to close my account, won’t give me the reason why. Do they have any right to do this? They are now saying they will view my docs and make a decisions on what happens to my funds, this is absolutely crazy I’m gobsmacked, I’ve basically been robbed of £5k of my own deposits from Sky

My partner, father and brother all use SkyBet and never ever have any issues so I'm completely shocked they've taken this action. Have they told you why they've closed your account? SUED58
No they won’t tell me and say they aren’t inclined to say why. Just that it’s a business decision
