honestdude
I have been playing on-line casinos now for a little over a year. My topic focuses on player's experiences since I'm pretty sure most on-line gamblers were playing in brick & mortar casinos or VLT;s before the rapid spread of on-line casinos came about. I would just like to hear from players if their experience from both differ. My personal experience is that the brick&mortar casinos or VLT's actually seem to pay more often in the sense that when you spin, although this could take awhile, the wins at the same betting average of approximately $1.25 all the way to $3.75 a spin in bick & mortar casinos pay out more often than on-line casinos. Example, I will walk into a casino and I know that throughout my hours of playing I at least cash a few winning tickets, sometimes large like $900 and up way more often than I ever did since I've played on-line casinos. What's your experience in the time you have played in on-line casinos ? Better or Worst = On-Line or Brick & Mortar ?

I've never played in a land-based casino so I'm afraid I can't give you my comparisons! But I imagine that I would never like land-based casinos as much as online casino mainly due to the lack of privacy in a land based casino. This would be the biggest issue for me. I'd love to have the experience of a land-based casino one day and I will but it will never be a 'hobby' of mine that's for sure.
globalgamer
I have played mostly in brick or mortar but lately have done so throughout Asia for the most part. And I have found some VERY VERY cold regulated and unregulated casinos. I have personally lost a lot more in brick and mortar in Asia, compared to online. I have found that many casinos are now using server based slots for which they can actually change return to player payouts remotely, at any time (during game play). In regulated markets this is illegal, but in unregulated, anything goes. And in some regulated markets in Asia, well....not truly regulated. So my comparison is Asia versus online gaming and for me online gaming wins. I am up overall in online gaming since I really started doing it a little more than a month ago. And for brick and mortar WAY WAY WAY WAY down Compared to land based in Las Vegas in the last few years I haven't been there in too long to comment. But honestly I have found more free spins online than in US land based casinos in the past. But...it depends on the game and the time of course, some times everything is cold everywhere....online, land based, backyard, etc. etc.

globalgamer
So in your experience would you say that it's easier to spend and lose more money in a land-based casino than online? Absolutely 100% YES. The reason for me at least is in a land based casino you are surrounded by sounds of others playing the same game, betting 10 times more, the same amount, etc., and winning big - sounds of winning fills the casino. So you are constantly reminded of the potential to win big at any moment and turn the cold streak into hot, or change machines, etc. Lots of positive distractions in brick and mortar casinos. Online however it is more of a battle with yourself. It's very easy to walk away from the computer (in my opinion), post to a forum, reply to some emails, close the browser, etc. etc. Lots of distractions that can potentially save you from a horrible loosing streak reinforced by others winning big within earshot at land based casinos. At the same time, online it is easy to walk away from a potentially hot streak, where at land based I think you are more likely to keep going when you are on a roll. Overall, I find online safer, and love the fact the return to player % is set by the game maker not the casino (from what I know so far, at least for major game makers this is the case). And online easier to control the outcome by walking away when its time to call it a loss or a win. cocopop3011

I do hope to one day get the experience of a land-based casino however it will be a very mediocre visit. Nothing too serious and certainly won't be blowing a huge budget! globalgamer
I just finished some travel that included several land based casinos. It was actually a good run, I am surprised to report. Some highlights: 100% Slot Machine Wins (no tables) $820 progressive (Major) $880 progressive (Major) $1120 progressive (Major) Biggest Win $1640 from free spins. The included picture is only the second of 10 free spins in this session, and with 11 Gold this was a $1400 payout with just this one spin. All in all it ended up over $1640. I can never remember what this particular game is called, but all wins reported in this post are from the same game (but a collection of maybe 25 machines from 5 different casinos). Overall, with plenty of ups and downs, I ended up around $2200 USD over this week. It cost around $1000 to win the $2200 net profit. At the same time, I won around $400 at Bit Starz over a few days when home from the land based casinos, so it was a profitable gambling week for me. Total cost to win the $400 was around $150. If only it could be like that every week, it would be a great full time job. cocopop3011 and ValDes
