Hot and cold?

Recommended Posts

Hi again and merry christmas :)

I have read a lot of places in this forum about hot and cold slot machines. Things "when it's hot it pays like crazy" and "when it's cold it can suck your balance dry in minutes".

I thought it was all random? And what is meant by hot? a lot of decent wins in a short period of time or several big wins?

Just wondering, thanks :)

Good question! And one I don't entirely know the answer to and let me tell you why. I never pay any attention to such information because I play the slots I want to play and like and for no other reason. So I've never asked what hot or cold slots mean!

I'm sure other members know the answer and can tell you.

I think the 'hot' and ''cold'' terminology used by some casinos is based on the RTP of a particular game over a certain period of time. For example, if the RTP for Game X  in Casino Y is above Value Z over the last week or so, then Casino Y announce Game X as a 'hot' one and the opposite of course...

And do you play games based on whether they are hot or cold?

Usually not, however my last mega hit, the one I posted for 300 Shields today, came after an email from the casino to inform me that the so called hot games in their casino for that day were Reel Rush and....yes, exactly, 300 Shields! :o

Ahhhh 300 Shields! What a game...the only thing with this game is the wins are just so low on the base game. I've always liked this game though!

Well, if you pay more attention from now on when playing in casinos you will most probably notice that a lot of decent brands are actually using this hot-cold feature to inform their players which games are paying good at the moment and which are frozen. Including but not limited to BetAT, Slotty Vegas. Video Slots, all classic Microgaming casinos with their jackpot meter feature, etc etc.. ;)

To be honest, never paid any attention to the hot and cold stuff, but it's kinda weird that first time when I did that I hit a mega win. :o Makes you reconsider your beliefs in regards of Santa's existence, world conspiracy, latest location of Lady Luck etc... :D

In that case it could be worth some of my attention I guess!

If you touch a slot machine and you go "Ooouch!"...it's a HOT machine.

If you go "Brrrrrrrr..." instead...it's a COLD machine...hahaha.

HOT and COLD means many things to different people.

Hot and Cold...to Katy Perry...refers to her boyfriend...  :D

Hot to casinos...means a particular slot game is being played / have been played by so many players worldwide...judged by a predetermined period of time...maybe within a week of its release...or within each recurring month...bla bla bla.  What it doesn't mean is that the particular slot game is paying out like hot cakes!!!  :p

Hot to players...may simply mean you can get nice hot delicious meals served on a silver platter for you...by simply playing the game in question...which, in truth...may just be another illusion...or just another nightmare! Hot to one player may be frozen cold salad to another! :p

Hot to me...aaaaaah...a two legged beauty spinning wildly...  :D

"Come and get it...come and get it...it's going like HOT cakes!"...hmmmm...never for me...I'm too cool!  ^_^

"Come and play it...come and play it...it's going HOT!!!...hmmmm...not for me...I don't want my fingers burnt!  :D

Whether any slot game is HOT or COLD...it totally doesn't matter to me...

there are many HOT games now...as defined by many casinos in their games lists...

for all I know...these casinos are making tons of money out of it...but they AIN'T GONNA GET MINE!

I play a new slot game...to see how the game plays and to personally judge how it would perform...

My TOP 5 favourite games are not even listed as HOT...but...I cannot do without them!  :D

If you take a coin, flip it 10.000 times and look at the results, you will find periods where it hits the same result for a vast majority of the time. The same goes for any game of chance including slot machines. So, a period of good spins is considered hot and a period of bad spins is considered cold.

However, some people speculate that you can "feel" when the slot is hot and cold from a series of spins and this leads them to leave slots that feel cold and continue on slots that feel hot.

Since in random games, it doesn't matter when and how you spin this theory doesn't hurt your chances of winning but be aware that thinking in the above way is purely a trick of the mind. Out brains are hardwired to try and find connections and meaning in everything. Without this ability we wouldn't be able to make sense of much in this world.

Unfortunately our brain does not have the ability to reason with and "shut down" this functionality when we observe things that are random and hence, we have a way of miraculously finding sense and system in things, even if there are none.

Some interesting studies have been conducted on this. Not within the scope of gambling because here it doesn't really matter much but within other areas of our life this brain process can be a bad thing and because of this, scientists have found it interesting to study.

Feel free to Google if you find the subject interesting but if you are only interested based on potentially gaining an edge on slot machines, then don't bother. Your RTP won't change based on you trying to read if a slot is hot or cold. They are random.

Thank you for sharing this!

Also, today I was playing European roulette in Rizk Casino and it had a "hot" and "cold" selection of numbers. Does the same logic apply there or what does it mean? Haven't seen this in other roulettes that I have tried so far.

Anna Casino.... Top three in the worst and rudest customer service according to my experience with them.

Hi Johnny,

I am very sorry to hear that you have had a negative experience. If you write me a PM with the details I will be very happy to take a look at the issue you have had. If you have the communication from our support at hand, I would very much like to get this as well (or information on your username so that I can look it up)
