3 to a Royal instead of 4 to a Flush is almost ALWAYS correct to hold. There are some exceptions when penalty cards mean you technically should hold 4 to a Flush, but you could ignore those exceptions always without it costing you much at all.

 

The most common mistake made in Jacks or Better [especially at InterCasino due to dodgy autohold rules - sigh] is holding 4 to outside straight instead of a low pair. Holding the pair is a MUCH better play.

I forgot to mention, take flush over 3 to royal if the royal contacts Ace and 10.

 

I wasn't comparing low pair with an inside straight draw, I was talking about just an inside straight draw itself. People chase this when it's better to completely discard. 4 to inside straight is only worth taking if it contains at least 3 high cards to at least improve the payout if the straight misses but a high pair hits.

I was using them for a bit but then bought a program. I think the mistakes people make trying to play 'optimal' aren't worth the minuscule difference from Simple rules.
