cocopop3011
We all know who the King of Tournaments is here! For all the newer members reading this - he is called Afi! And I'm expecting a lot of input from him here! I was just wondering what everyone actually thinks of tournaments here...do you love them or do you hate them? I'm actually undecided .... Any Input here would be much appreciated. Do you play tournaments? If so, which ones? Do you pay buy in fees or just play the free ones? Have you ever won from them? I'm definitely an inexperienced player when it comes to tournaments...so I'm looking for lots of hints, tips and advice please! Please also take part in my mini poll I've included above ValDes
helenakp
Well Sharon i do play tournaments every day, but rarely i pay for them ,because they are many freerolls which can bring you free chip. But when i play at the tournaments I always want to get in the first 3 players otherwise to play and stay on the 5 place which that happened to me many times ,so my point is to be in the 5th place and play for 2$ ,no thanks, thats why I always continue to play ,if i reached in the first 3 places good if not i loose all the balance at the end.And yes i do like the tournaments ! Afi4wins
Well...I've played in freeroll tourneys before, in RTG and microgaming casinos...won a few times, but the prizes are just way too little for my liking...but can't expect anything more from freeroll tourneys can we? Tourneys with entrance fees and buy-ins offer slightly better cash prizes, but these too couldn't hold my interest for long. I had fun whilst it lasted...until my appetite grew bigger, hahahaha. That's when I started playing in real money tourneys, like the ones I'm into each and every month. My first attempt was horrible...as expected...only managed to get 36th placing...and $25 prize money. Nothing to shout about...except at myself! Hahahaha. But that poor placing put my brains into action and I gradually found better ways and strategies to use in the tourneys. My second attempt in the following month got me up to 16th placing and my third attempt the month after got me the 5th placing and a lovely $325 prize money! Now that got me all thrilled up and excited! My strategies seemed to be in place and working well...and surely enough...the following month, in August 2013, I finally won 1st place and $1300 prize money! In just 4 consecutive attempts! That was my greatest tourney achievement ever! After that, I could only managed 2nd place, 2nd place and 16th place. There was no tournament in December. With results like that, how can I NOT continue playing in the tourneys right?! The December break didn't do much good to me...as I lost the momentum. January got me a miserable 26th placing. February was much better at 6th placing. In March 2014, I'm back at the very top again! Yippie! Now...in April...I'm on the final stretch home...for my first ever 2nd consecutive 1st place win! Just 1 more day to go...and thousands of spins more to do!!! Hehehehe. No need to wonder or question if I like or hate tournaments hah?! helenakp, cocopop3011 and ValDes

helenakp
I do see! And was that a free entry tournament Kate? yes Sharon they are free tournaments at Liberty Slots Casino,Lincoln Casino and Miami Club Casino and you can play them every day 7 times a week and even if you are not a depositor you can play.I play them every day.Intertops Classic Casino has those free tournaments also, but they are 2-3 a months. Afi4wins
So is there a strategy Afi? Or are tourneys just like slots - all that is needed is luck? Oh yes, definitely Sharon! As in any tourney, race or marathon, strategy and experience play a very important role to put you on the right track, strength and staying power (bankroll) keeps you going till the end of the race, and Lady Luck will determine if you can finally make it to the finish line...or simply fall flat on your face exhausted! There's no guarantee of winning, ever! Winning comes only when all I've said above works well in combination. Short of one item...and you'd find yourself slipping down the leaderboard! But of course, you won't need all these things to play and win in simple freeroll tourneys. Luck would be your top most decisive factor because these tourneys do not run over days, just a couple of minutes or hours at the most. The buy-ins tourneys can stretch longer, depending on how many times you keep buying in and keep going. Real money tourneys, on the other hand, can run over a few days, up to a week even, but only a few are marathon tourneys that run for about 2 weeks or longer. Marathon tourneys are my favorite! The prizes are big, the competition is always fast and furious, and staying focused is crucial. This just happened to me a few days back in my Omni's tourney! I was already in the pole position, way ahead of the 2nd position person by over 17,000 spins margin! So, I thought 'no way' can the 2nd guy overtake me now...and so I took it easy, just a little though, for the next 2 days. When the next leaderboard came on, I was still in 1st place...but the 2nd person has dropped to 3rd...and a new contender has taken the 2nd spot...and cut my spins margin from 17,000 to just over 3,000 spins!!! I got a bad shock from this! But thank god I was still in the lead. From then on, no more taking it easy!!! The Schumacher in me, hehehe, took control and drove like mad once again, increasing back the spins margin...but no one knows what will happen at the finish line tomorrow! I hope it will be Schumafi to cross it first!!! Hahaha. helenakp, cocopop3011 and ValDes

Hahahaha...not really consistency...but more of endurance and perseverance...in other words...patience! Lots and lots of it! Later on, I will give some pointers and hints regarding what strategy to use in a tournament, but these would really be in relation to Omni's tournament. If anyone here is already a regular player in a Playtech casino, then I would suggest follow my hints and tips and give the tournament a try. I will lay out a simple strategy to follow, no deep experience or skill needed, just luck, hehehe, and let's see how the end results would come out at the end of the tourney. All you need is a bankroll of at least $200. The more the better. If this first attempt can get you into the leaderboard...you are on your way to greater winnings in the future! If anyone is interested...Schumafi is willing to coach! I'm driving a Ferrari...(just pretend that it is so! )...but you can use any car you like! Hahahaha. cocopop3011

Well, not everyone can be real-money tournament material, Sharon. Even if you can afford that $200 bankroll, you'll probably get bored so fast and quit within a few hours! Only players who like hard challenges and with a determination to win can play in real-money tourneys. Furthermore, my monthly tournament bankrolls are all from my previous winnings. ValDes
.... Does anyone else have anything to add on tournaments? .... Well, I do...Although I was not planning to jump in this discussion in particular as we have already had the chance to talk about casino tournaments on a several occasions before. But it seems the discussion is quite different this time, thanks to Sharon of course. Will be as quick as possible. And so...most of the present tournaments, run by online casinos suck and when I say suck, I mean they suck really big time! After so many years of online gambling I'm still totally shocked by the lack of creativity, innovation and attractiveness in 99% of all these running tourneys. Take Microgaming for example. How it is even possible to be the best, the oldest and the most respected gambling software provider worldwide for the last decade and to offer the most boring and worthless tournaments at the same time? With barely touched rules and concept for the last five years or so, despite the fuss around all major gambling forums that some of their tourneys are somehow 'unfair' and even 'rigged'? But at least they try, while some other major providers like NetEnt for example still haven't heard nothing about this word yet. Those guys don't even care about creating a decent tournament, let alone investing or implementing such... RTG? Why even take part in their tournaments when you'll have troubles in most cases to cashout your winnings, even if you manage to win something. Playtech? Probably the only one of the biggest players on the field of online gambling, which really do care about creating and managing decent tournaments. If someone doubts my words, I strongly recommend him/her to follow the adventures of our beloved Afi and his love affair with Omni casino and its tournaments. After all, Maybe I'm not quite right to blame only the software vendors for this situation. Where are the casino managements and marketing teams? Why most of them are still with eyes widely shut down for this fantastic opportunity to popularize their own brand and to reward their customers in additional way?... Thanks God, there are some decent operators yet, from all brands and software, which do realize the importance of creating and running good casino tournaments and the opportunity to advertise their name even better and wider among players. cocopop3011
Afi4wins
Well said mate! I couldn't have said better! Sadly though, not many players are Playtech fans, and those who are interested are being kept away by their country jurisdictions! Our guru here is also a fan of Playtech...and how I wish we could race each other in Omni's tournament, hehehehe...or even team up together to rule the tournament...just like in Formula 1 racing! Just imagine...AG rules Playtech tournaments!!! Dream on Afi!!! Hahahaha.
ValDes
Yes, Afi, indeed. I do love Playtech, I do love their games and Marvel games in particular and I do love their tournaments. I had some fantastic achievements in the Bet365 tourneys in the past and I still believe some of the Playtech powered casinos are the only ones out there, who dare and care to create and maintain really decent tournaments. I'm so glad you jumped in Valdes ...I've quoted everything you said because it's definitely worthy of its quote. Like I said I'm a total virgin when it comes to tournaments so this topic is really opening my eyes. Do you want to know something....I've never played in any kind of Playtech tournament! Do they do free rolls? I'm really not looking to invest money into tournaments at the moment .... I just feel like my slot playing needs something more at the moment! I wonder why NetEnt have never considered tournaments ... I wonder of they ever will! I hope someone doesn't come in and say..well actually NetEnt have already released tournaments - because if they have I'm totally oblivious to it! Afi4wins
Maybe...just maybe...you may get one or two freeroll tourneys from Playtech! I'm not too sure though, but as far as I know, they are all real money tourneys. Deposit, get bonus and play...and automatically get entry into the tourney! However, it's not like most other tourneys whereby you need to compete in a particular game at a time...and if you don't like that game, no freeroll tourney for you...until another game comes along. The tourney winner is always the player with the highest amount of accumulated money at the end of the tourney...but NOT at Playtech! The winner is the player with THE MOST SPINS! So a player can choose his/her favorite slots and play away...enjoying the slots AND enjoying the tournament! And losing at the slots DOESN'T mean losing the tournament...because whatever spins that have been made are counted into the tourney! This is a big big difference from other tournaments...and why I love it so much! And also why I only play my favorite slot games in the tourneys, games that I know would give me many more spins per every $ invested!
