Casino allowing me to play when they dont have license to operate

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I registered my account with Betclic while living in Malta, but have since then relocated to Denmark where I now permanently recide. My problem is when I use the app for sportsbetting I have no issues, but when I tried to access the casino page, it suddenly said that it was not allwoed in my jurisdiction. Since then I have seen that Betclic does not have the license to operate in Denmark, and when I try to access Betclic from my PC it will not allow me due to jurisdiction issues, both casino and sportsbetting.

So my question is am I even allowed to do the sportsbetting from the app when it clearly says they are not allowed to operate in Denmark? I know I created the account in Malta, and with Maltese details which might make it harder to detect, but since then I have changed to danish phone number and I am not using VPN, so my ip should show I am in Denmark.

Thanks in advance

@Ladedinho Hi and welcome to the forum.

Sooner or later, a casino can detect that you are no longer playing from Malta and would not allow you to access their casino. My best advice would be to stop playing there, or even request a closure of that account.

Carrying on playing at a restricted casino could lead to major problems when it comes to withdrawals, so it's best to avoid it right from the start.

Hello and thank you for your reply.

I have talked with the support about the issue and they now permanently closed my account, but only after I made them aware of the problem.

Now my problem is that I actually had some sports bets active for the weekend, and they have just closed to account without even mentioning it. Are they allowed to just close my account and keep the money even though they are the ones breaching the rules? I feel like I should get a refund for making them aware of the problem, do you think it would be worth contacting them and ask for my money back?

I feel like I have done them a favour by telling them that they are breaching rules and then they just take my money and close my account without saying anything?

What would you do if you were in my situation?

Thanks in advance

Well, in the first place, I would have not closed my account as yet because of the still active sports bet. I would wait for the bets to finish first, win or lose, or simply cancel them and collect back the refund into my account. My first choice would be to cancel the sports bets if I still have some balance in my account.

Once that is done, THEN ONLY would I talk to the casino's live chat and ask for closure of the account.

As it is now, the casino may or may not refund you anything at all. Some casinos would be considerate enough to give you back your money, but most would simply take the opportunity as 'easy earned money' for them.

Hey again,

Thanks for the reply,

It was not me but them on the other hand that jusst closed my account. I have sent them an email regarding this but felt they should have said something instead of just closing my account.
