sponge2025 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Hi everyone, I’m posting this as a massive warning to anyone who is registered with GAMSTOP and has had deposits confiscated by Star Sports, AK Bets, or any other site running on the Playbook Engineering platform. Like many self-excluded players, I slipped up and managed to register and deposit on their sites. They subsequently closed my accounts and confiscated hundreds of pounds in deposits, citing a "breach of terms" and claiming they were donating my money to charity. Their standard excuse is always: "You falsified your details to bypass our GAMSTOP checks, so our automated system couldn't catch you." I didn't believe them, so I submitted a Subject Access Request (SAR) to get my internal account data and system logs. The data I received proves their automated GAMSTOP integration is fundamentally broken, and they are using their T&Cs to unjustly enrich themselves. Here is what their own internal audit logs revealed: 1. The "Deposit First, Check Later" Business Model In February 2023, I opened a Star Sports account using the exact same First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, Phone Number, and Address that had been active on my GAMSTOP profile for over seven months. Did their automated system block me? No. Their internal API logs explicitly show the registration bypassed the block with the status: gamStopVerification: "not-checked". They allowed me to deposit £140. It was only caught the next day during a manual KYC check, at which point they kept my money. 2. The Loophole Has Existed For Years The SAR data showed another account I opened in August 2021, again using 100% matching GAMSTOP details. Once again, their system logged gamStopVerification: "not-checked" at the exact minute of registration. The most shocking part? Their automated system didn't run a successful check until FIVE MONTHS LATER (in January 2022!!!). They left a fully matching, GAMSTOP-registered account wide open for five months. 3. Inconsistent "Charity" Confiscations In December 2023, I managed to open another account. Because I used a new email, their internal duplicate checker linked me to my old blocked account within two minutes. Did they confiscate my £30 deposit for "falsified details"? No. They processed a withdrawal right back to my card. This proves their "charity confiscation" rule is entirely arbitrary and only used when it is highly profitable for them. 4. The False Statement of Truth in Court I am currently taking Star Racing Limited (trading as AK Bets) to the Small Claims Court for a separate £650 they took from me while I was on GAMSTOP. Their Head of Compliance recently signed a formal Statement of Truth to the court claiming their automated controls work perfectly and that "had Mr X registered with these matching details originally, these controls would've prevented any gambling activity from the outset." Thanks to the SAR data they just handed me from their sister site, I now have hard corporate evidence proving that statement is objectively false. Their system actively logs "not-checked" even when given 100% matching details. Conclusion Playbook Engineering platforms appear to have a structural defect in their GAMSTOP API. They fail to block vulnerable players at registration, gladly take your deposits, and then blame you for "evading" checks that their own data proves didn't even run properly. If Star Sports, AK Bets, or any Playbook site has taken your money claiming you bypassed GAMSTOP, do a Subject Access Request immediately. Ask for your Account Audit Logs and look for the gamStopVerification status at the exact timestamp of your registration. You might just find the proof you need to get your money back. Currently escalating all of this to IBAS, the UKGC, and the Small Claims Court. Stay safe out there. Quote
