jameswood32 Posted November 11 Posted November 11 Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking about how platforms like AskGamblers serve large communities of players, but find myself wondering: what if the forum experience was enhanced with modern messaging‑app / chat features (think like Slack, Discord, or WhatsApp style)? Specifically: What tech stack would you pick for adding real‑time chat / messaging to a forum platform? (WebSockets, Firebase, Socket.io, etc) How would you integrate user authentication / single‑sign‑on so forum members can use the same credentials for the chat app and forum posts? From a gambling safety/policy viewpoint: what extra moderation or compliance controls would you build into the chat side (spam, self‑exclusion support, dealer‑chat monitoring etc)? If you were building a mobile messaging app companion for the forum (Android/iOS), what features would you add to merge community + tech + gambling aspects (push notifications for hot topics, complaint tracking chat, group chats for developers/players)? Do you see any major risks (legal, security, UX) in adding chat/messaging to a site whose core is gambling reviews / complaints? Would love to hear your thoughts on: Which technologies you’ve used or recommend for messaging features? How you’d design the user flows (forum → chat → complaint help) in a tech‑safe way? And whether you think a community like AskGamblers is ready for this kind of evolution. Thanks in advance for any ideas or experiences you’ve got! Quote
