Afi4wins
It has always been a big baffling question to me ever since Megaways games started appearing at casinos...why are so many players attracted to such games? Bonanza, by Big Time Gaming, was probably the biggest promoter for Megaways games. Almost everybody who played it soon became addicted to it. Some even began hearing the Bonanza tune playing endlessly in their heads, day in and day out, hahaha. Not me of course. The first thing that I had looked into back then was its paytable...and I was literally shocked by the rock bottom win values of all the symbols! Wilds don't pay, Scatters don't pay, and even the top symbols would pay so blardy damn low, making me wonder how the heck such a game would ever attract players to play it. But as you all know, how wrong my thinking was, or turned out to be! Players literally flocked to play the game, for many hours a day, for many days and nights, and I just couldn't believe it! Many said it was because the game offers a thrilling thousands and thousands ways to win...117649 ways to be exact...so in other words, getting a win in the game would be SO EASY! However, they don't realised that getting the top symbol 5-of-a-kind win would not even pay 5x the bet amount! I could get anything from a 200x up to 600x win from a good 5-reels 3-rows game, so what the heck is 5x?! In one of my trial play sessions, Bonanza when over 1600 spins without even giving me a free spins feature game. Again, I was shocked! My best Playtech games hardly ever go more than 1200 spins before triggering a feature game, but on Bonanza, some players had even cited going over 2000 spins just to get a low-paying feature game! I have never liked any Megaways games and I will not play any of them either, except if I needed to write a game review on it. Nowadays, more variants have become available, in the form of X-Ways, All-Ways, Power-Ways, and what-have yous, but I will never be interested. If you're a fanatic of such games, what made you stick to it, or become addicted to it? Has anything changed your mind now, or are you STILL blasting away on the same games? cocopop3011
cocopop3011
I've kind of given megaways an unfair hatred because hand on heart I have not thrown in enough money or time to really give them an honest opinion. My first impressions are that I don't like them as you know however, I do feel I should try them more just to make sure I definitely don't Afi4wins
StallCation
Well, if Bonanza is the reference point as to how good or bad Megaways slots are, I understand why some punters don't like them. While Bonanza was a very innovative - and imho even great - online slot, when it came out, these days it's nerfed beyond any recognition; base game is usually poor and even the basic 12 spins practically impossible to land... On the other hand, Extra Chilli is still my go-to slot number one, best Megaways slot BTG ever released, again imho. There's just one important trick to remember - hands off the gambling feature. Just a friendly piece of advise. Apart from that, I think Extra Chilli is the perfect balance between playability and volatility; unlike Bonanza the free spins are usually pretty easy to get, and the base game is very potent too. Just to compare, my best win ever on Bonanza is around 550x, while I've had multiple 1000-1600x wins on Extra Chilli. Never hit completely insane, like >5000x, but as mentioned, I loathe the gambling wheel - never used it in fact. So most of my wins are on 8-12 spins, but those Super 8's are quite entertaining, when they occur, hehe... Other decent Megaways slots imho are Legacy of Ra (Blueprint) and Divine Fortune MW (NetEnt). Primal MW (Blueprint) used to be one of my go-to slots too, but in the long run I just find it too volatile, as the free spins usually scam you quite shamelessly. But in general I think there are just too many crappy Megaways slots out there nowadays. I do like classic 9-10 liners too - Break da Bank Again, Thunderstruck, Spring Break, DoA and such are all great slots; when you hit, you hit big, which is quite satisfying. Not a big fan of grid slots like Reactoonz, Star Clusters, Jammin' Jars though - they just feel too predetermined, probably because they all are. One thing pains me btw, here on AskGamblers there isn't even a slot review of Extra Chilli, where I could post some screenshots of the good hits. Instead, here's a couple of them attached. Hi there Todd...so, are you saying that you are attracted to such megaways games because they look cool, regardless they play well or not?
