  1. Just to complete the story, William Hill, uk, released my account and full functioning of the account. But they are acting like modern-day gangsters . They were fined £20 million by the Gambling commission for not doing proper AML/safer gambling checks, and now they are using their huge asymmetrical power, asking for personal documents out of all proportion to what's required. So a cautionary note to anyone depositing a large amount with these knuts
  2. I place big bets on Eurovision every year and usually win - I now understand I'm a value bettor. I was completely naive about the betting world.... This year, I placed big Eurovision bets with Willian Hill...... This has triggered all their alerts and I've had to provide countless documents for their safer gambling, affordability and compliance checks These comprise - my pension statement, -SA302 annual income tax calculation, -the actual tax return which led to that SA302 calculation (!), -last 2 months' Santander current account bank statements/transactions -the Santander savings account statement which funded the current account -proof of my wealth. Now they're questioning some large deposits into my savings account, asking for documents as to where they came from.... This could go on for ever!! I emphasise that I am not guilty of any underhand/criminal practices. Any reasonable person would conclude that what they're asking for has gone way beyond what is "proportionate" Of course, I have to go along with anything they ask, as it's all very asymmetric , as you know. Does anyone have any advice at all, and is there a real fear they will just keep asking for more and more until they can find something they'll misconstrue as "dubious" to confiscate my deposits/winnings? What sort of people are recruited and enjoy working in such companies?
